Yeti Character Concept WIP
-
Got a bunch of ideas for this month contest and will try and develop 3 for some good practice. The first idea I had was to have a Christmas loving Yeti (could it be the real santa...?)
The second is a little similar, but more about it trying to be an xmas tree

That's an adorable yeti! Love the Christmas decorations in his beard and on his horns, and how his fur is bursting out of his jacket. If he's also Santa, I can imagine the scene in which his horns get him stuck in the chimney! Or maybe he's just a department store Santa and the kids are hanging off of them. So many possibilities with this fresh take!
-
Brilliant! Love the Christmas loving Yeti. He instantly evokes so many stories.
-
I was hesitant to open up your Yeti WIP for two reasons - 1) I hate getting other ideas in my head before I fully develop mine and 2) Your work is great and I didnโt want to be discouraged haha. With that said, I still decided to take a peak and I like what I see!
I definitely like your first design best. Itโs a great idea and I like the Christmas touch youโve added. Canโt wait to see the final!

Both are excellent! I think the tree actually looks more yeti than the first one. The Santa version seems to be a little more, well, Santa
rather than yeti. But I really love them both, I can see them as characters in their own world!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson Both of these are so great! Such interesting and fun takes. I love both, but the Santa-Yeti concept is so good!!!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson I love them both, but the first one definitely has a more of a yeti I vibe to it.
-
These are outstanding! Love them both, but I particularly loved the Santa -yeti with fairy lights attached. Great twist and so appealing to look at too. Fantastic work!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson omg! I love the huge head one he is too cute!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson And here I thought I was doing a good job. Your ideas look great!
-
@LauraA I love the idea about the horns and chimneys
@DaveLeekArt Honestly getting ideas from others and searching to see what has been done already can help you progress even further with your own ideas. You don't have to reinvent the wheel.
@Kat I'd agree with you that the 2nd one feel more yeti, maybe I get push the yetiness in the first one if I go for that.@JoshuaDages @ruth @chrisaakins @powsupermum @Lorna-H @Meg-Clayburn-0 @JoshuaDages Thank you for the love! It's great to see when a design is working well.
I wanted to add 1 more design into the mix (I might add 1 more later too for the practice...) I was thinking how about a really big old yeti that has been hidden as a mountain only to finally awaken...?
-
@Gary-Wilkinson very cool concept! I think itโs awesome!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson I think you might be onto something with this giant sleeping yeti design! He looks great and the idea is very creative. It gets my vote.
-
@Gary-Wilkinson - oooo this idea is amazing! At first I liked the Santa, but I think this concept knocks it out the park. I can imagine Lee, Will or Jake loving this idea and they always stress that a strong concept is key. Well done with letting your imagination run with it!
-
Wow, these are very similar to my idea (a Yeti that wants to be a Christmas elf). Great job one these. I like the first one best. He looks like Santa.
-
I really loved the Santa design but this new one takes the cake. Very creative and different. I would go with new one.
-
@K-Flagg I agree. The second one is great.
-
@Gary-Wilkinson I think they are all great - I'd love to see more drawings of any of them. But I agree, the last one you've shown is a stand-out concept (and your execution of it is super!)! I LOVE the idea that the Yeti is a mountain that just woke up!! (It would make a fantastic story!)

@Gary-Wilkinson Love the Mountain Yeti and I liked the xmas tree Yeti very much! Mountain Yeti dfinately works best at this point though!keep it up!!
