@kat I agree that adding a shadow in the eyes and mouth to show that there is a back side of the pumpkin is a good step. Since you want to convey that a light source is in there you won't have to do anything really dark but some type of gradient would help it look finished. Good piece!

@quinnkimberly If it's just based off of the movie, it might work then. Now that I think of it, I don't think Pennywise even took a clown form in the parallel book scene, so it might be a moot point. If it's for an audience who's seen the movie, it might be clear enough.
Hi russ I dont really like to give critque but i really like this piece(nice idea) The white highlights seem a bit fuzzy and could be brighter and sharper it maybe needs more contrast or more differences in values.I know everyone wants something different and this is just my opinion.
I think it's really well done, and like Eli said, you get a strong sense of who the character is. The only critique I have is that I kind of want to see the eyebrow on our left defined a bit more. It's getting lost a bit in the shadow. I think it's fine to have things get lost in the shadows sometimes, but for this particular case, I'm finding I want to see the eyebrow stand out a bit more.
Hi all! Sorry I'm in and out so much but the full-time job + misc freelance can really swallow me whole sometimes. Here's a quick illustration I did for the new studio though. This one has some pretty personal metaphors buried in it which I don't usually tend toward in stuff I show to the public, but I'm multi-tasking these days.
I'm stoked to see what SVS does with that space!
Thanks everyone for all the help. Unfortunately I couldn’t pull it off. I just am not satisfied with the piece, and don’t want to present it this weekend. It is my fault for procrastinating. However, I will still be able to participate as an illustrator and have my portfolio with me. Thanks again.
