decided to be on the ball and enter early! I'm a bit confused on what size the image should be though..........?I know there was a post a while back but I can't find it now.
Former horseback riding instructor followed by pediatric occupational therapist now artist/illustrator!
Making myself a bit crazy with last minute changes so I am posting so I can go have a life lol!
@ruth , your characters are too freaking cute!
I polished an illustration I did last fall now that I understand photoshop a bit better ! Getting ready to have a website going
also was working on losing the linework a bit. I'm not very good at linework and I like working on edges so am learning to lean into that a little
calling it done and moving on
I did this in procreate, forgetting I needed to give myself time to work on it in photoshop live and learn! It loses something in translation.
Anyhoo, I made it the deadline so I am very proud of that because it’s been hard to focus.
everyone who made the deadline should be proud of themselves, and anyone who didn’t should cut themselves a lot of slack. No big deal. It’s been a rough month.
Stay safe everyone! Hugs too!
So I am pretty happy with this. Actually really happy. I'm going to let myself say that because I feel like that and my day has been otherwise a little emotional in terms of art and life.
Anyhow, I struggled with Dorothy's hand. I felt it was too tight in a fist. So I tried a version where it's more relaxed but I'm not sure it's any better. Partly because I think it's such a tiny thing in the illustration, it can't really have a lot of detail. Anyone have any thoughts?
Also, I haven't done lettering before and I'm wondering if I should work on that. Or does it look good like this?
Any other thoughts appreciated.
On the emotional front, I just got a non art related job, which is good because we really need more income here. But I'm sad because I know that with a family, and a job, I'll barely have time for art anymore in a few weeks. Plus just having time around my kids before they're totally grown up and gone. Also it's an essential worker type of position so that's not exactly exciting me. Good and bad coming with it I guess. Having a moment where I feel like this isn't working out for me. Sorry to be a bummer at the current moment. I think a virtual hug would be helpful from people who understand.
nothing new but picking away at a few pieces I have shown before. On the dinosaur one I added a bit of a haze to the background to maybe push it farther back, deepened the cast shadow on the dino and tried to pop the girl out a bit more from the tree (but not too much). With the mouse I am doing more painting and toouchupps and kind of losing the line work that was there initially.
Absolutely! Sounds wonderful.
@Lorna-H sweet! Thank you! I somehow missed this message and I just wanted to let you know it made my evening . I really appreciate it, thank you
@Joe-Kim this is really great, I like the rendering and there's a bit of power and mystery. Great job
