decided to be on the ball and enter early! I'm a bit confused on what size the image should be though..........?I know there was a post a while back but I can't find it now.
Former horseback riding instructor followed by pediatric occupational therapist now artist/illustrator!
Making myself a bit crazy with last minute changes so I am posting so I can go have a life lol!
@ruth , your characters are too freaking cute!
I wanted to combine adding a portfolio piece that used one of my previous characters with the contest this month, so here is the return of my little mouse from the Nightfall contest in February. I started sketching this mouse character last September for the inktober prompt ring.
Have a great day everyone.
I polished an illustration I did last fall now that I understand photoshop a bit better ! Getting ready to have a website going
also was working on losing the linework a bit. I'm not very good at linework and I like working on edges so am learning to lean into that a little
calling it done and moving on
Art drop sounds fun. I wasn’t aware of it and I live in the boonies lol, so maybe a squirrel might find it haha. Have fun with yours.
I’m working on doing a sketch everyday I. September ( too many days I don’t actually draw). Upping my game at being regular about drawing.
I did this in procreate, forgetting I needed to give myself time to work on it in photoshop live and learn! It loses something in translation.
Anyhoo, I made it the deadline so I am very proud of that because it’s been hard to focus.
everyone who made the deadline should be proud of themselves, and anyone who didn’t should cut themselves a lot of slack. No big deal. It’s been a rough month.
Stay safe everyone! Hugs too!
@Whitney-Simms mostly the people who commission me are friends or Facebook friends at least. I have been painting pets for maybe 6 years off and on and I post them on my Facebook when I'm done (usually). I have a Facebook art page as well but mostly I guess word of mouth/Facebook history over the years. Often I get commissioned when a pet passes away. The other day I passed on my condolences on a pet's passing and almost immediately they contacted me for a large commission. I wasn't trying to hit them up! I really felt sad about it. Anyhow I think people just know now that I do it and have it tucked away in their minds until they decide they're Ready. I'm sure yours will grow over the years too!
@Whitney-Simms I got swamped in dog portraits too, I had to actually start telling people I couldn't finish them by Christmas. I didn't even advertise but I've done a few for Christmas for probably the last 5: years or so so I guess this year people thought of it. Super cool. I'm actually making some decent income from them too which is a first lol
I like the last one best! It has more interesting detail and shapes, and I agree the first one looks like a speech bubble from the building LoL. But I think you're on a good track with it for sure. Excited to see what you do from here!
@Heather-Boyd I'm busy with kid stuff atm but will take a look and respond a little later tonight
@chrisaakins yes. I was looking for sort of a bas-relief type effect. Maybe it’s too much. Someone else asked me that same question. So maybe it’s a bit over-cooked.....hmmmm. I’m still playing around and the shadows are are in a separate later so I could lose them or fade them. I’d be interested to hear what others think. Because maybe right now it looks like I made shadow mistakes hahaha
