Welp, I finally did it...
-
After finishing my cover art for my fantasy novel, I finally got brave enough to send off the manuscript to DAW publishing. They take unsolicited manuscripts. I am nervous because I forgot a couple of things. I accidentally put "to whom it may concern" instead of the guy's name that I was supposed to put (I didn't see that tidbit of vital information until I had submitted). I also didn't realize that I needed to create a header on the manuscript. I hope I don't get the treatment you got @NessIllustration from that one agency. Anyway, here's hoping they like it. If they even look at it. Now I feel really stupid and nervous at the same time. I will make sure I read everything 100 times before I submit anything else. Ugh!!!
I just wanted to share. Happy Monday!

Best of luck!

@chrisaakins Best of luck mate! It doesn't seem like you made any big mistakes - to whom it may concern is still appropriate, and I wouldn't think the missing header is a deal breaker. You still have all the needed info in your application. Take a deep breath and pat yourself on the back, this is a great accomplishment! Congrats

Congratulations - Good Luck!

@chrisaakins I will be crossing my fingers that you get a good reception.
That sucks when mistakes happen like that. Let me tell you about the time I submitted my portfolio to a publishers email submission. I write personal notes to each publisher in my email and this particular time I sent an email with a different publisher name in the note. I ate crow and sent another apologizing profusely and making a joke about it (in a tactful way). I got a short email back saying they understood and things happen but I never heard back about my work. Lol. You gotta just hope they are human beings that understand nervous energy mistakes. Good luck -
aahhhh we have all been there!!!
Best of luck I am sure the misstep is of FAR less import than you are giving it.

@burvantill I once sent a portfolio to an agency addressed to another agency and they were savage about it! They immediately replied and made sure to let me know they were tossing out my application because of my mistake. For months this was the only reply I had from the whole posting as none of the other agencies replied. This was devastating! But these things happen

Iām glad you made the plunge. Best of luck!
-
@NessIllustration Daaang! I bet you never made that mistake again.
-
Best of best of luck! Either way, please share your experience. (hoping it's positive-we could use some positive news!)
-
@chrisaakins congratulations!
-
Congratulations!! Best of luck to you

Update: Well, I got my first rejection letter. They said it was not a good fit for them right now. I guess I will try some more publishers..
-
@chrisaakins congrats bro! That's one less "no" you need to find the "yes"

@chrisaakins Hang in there and use it to make yourself and your art better!
