@missmushy No, it's just a normal digital pencil held by a patient hand
I like to work in digital as I would work traditionally - only with super-powers. I find too many shortcuts make the art look "plastic". -
Spent the last few days messing around with Procreateβs brushes and blending modes/liquify thingy. Tossed away trying to draw first and just plonked down random abstract strokes and saw what things started to emerge out of the mess. Here are a few of those weird things:
-
Here's my latest illustration. Just finished this commission for a local family.
-
This is my Christmas mice collection. I'm trying to get twelve done before I paint them. I will probably split them into inside and outside groupings so I can use warm and cool pallets.
-
@missmushy
Oooo this is a great exploration -
@kaitlinmakes thanks! It was a lot of fun
-
Finished my last commission. Can't share on Instagram yet.
This was an experiment. It was all done with watercolor graphite. Looks like pencil but goes on like watercolor. So. Much. Fun. -
Tryin' to pump out a drawing to get to 50 kids.
Apparently zero G dodgeball mostly involves trying not to lynch your teammates with your tether
-
@missmushy I love that rabbit and THOSE EYES
-
@burvantill thanks! I think the rabbit is my fav too - might try to develop other characters in the same style and see if I can do it on purpose this time lol
-
I haven't drawn much on my Surfacebook2 since Inktober. A new teaching job kinda got in the way. Picking it back up was very difficult! I had to warm up a lot, which was frustrating. I also looked back at my old drawings and was super unimpressed. Time to get back into it and level up! This drawing didn't turn out how I wanted, it's from my idea for a kids book about a monster in the closet.

Santa mouse is in the house

Animals at the bus stop.

Nothing to show today, I have been sitting at my computer for 3 hours looking through lists of publishers for my mailing list. Its sooo boring. But it has to be done. Just taking a short break so I don't lose my mind.
-
I liked how a few of my Inktober pictures turned out and started exploring that style with added watercolor. For some reason I've been on a snowman fix this month. I don't know if this little tester shows it but I want to add in some E.H. Shepard and Bill Watterson influences.
(Yes, I see that the mailbox, scarf, and snow torso all turned into tangent city. Sorry.)

My desk has looked like a bombs gone off since starting the SVS courses a couple weeks ago lol I need to invest in a bigger desk. I was thinking today, I have a feeling no matter how the desk gets, there'll never be enough room
These are my notes from Jakes How To Draw Everything Course, which I finished yesterday and loved to bits Started the Drawing Foundations one today.
Also been playing around in my sketchbook, practicing using a brush pen from QuickPoses.com images.
-
@missmushy My favourite subject. Great studies!
-
@sophie-lawson OMG I would LOVE if my workspace looked like this. It's currently covered in every kind of art supply you can imagine! And yes, I think there is a special law of physics that states the the size of your mess increases in proportion to the size of your desk!
-
Here is the image for my xmas cards this year. The top one is done in Procreate app and the bottom one, i took into Snapseed and messed with some filters. I'm going to use the snapseed version.
I miss my fuzzball.

Looks like you had a whole lot of fun with How To Draw Everything. I still struggle with combining shapes, I can cut them in pieces but adding them... sigh. lols What was the most challenging area for you?
I just finished up Drawing Fundamentals last week, I really benefited from drawing big to small details even though I still struggle with "Ahhh it looks like nothing" lols.
I have moved onto Creative Composition which looks daunting and far more rewarding than Drawing in College. All that money... sigh.
I am currently working on two ideas with animals and snow related activities (as it is snowing here in Ontario Canada) and a aerial waters cape (not going to make it by the end of the day for Slowemeber unfortunately) while incorporating the AMAZING!! Creative Composition checklist, it blows my mind people.
I hope to see your future experiments and final works.
