Need Your Input on an SVS Illustrator Digital Summit
-
@Jake-Parker Damn. If I'd been thinking I would have pitched Jeff Smith for the list.
Looking forward to seeing who comes out! Thanks for doing this.

@Pamela-Fraley We just used Zoom this past Sunday for our church and people liked it much more than a straight live stream. In fact, I was so appreciative of my experiences here on SVS: I chose Zoom to use for the church because I had seen how well it works with the critiques, and my two sisters (also in ministry) and I did a round table discussion as part of our virtual service that was inspired by the three point perspective podcast. SVS has taught me a lot more than art!

I vote for plan A. I love the idea of enjoying a week long online event for artists around the world. It's gonna keep me fired up for the whole week!
-
@Jake-Parker Awesome!
Plan A- It's like an excursion. If you can do it, it will be one of the best summits ever!
Jim Madsen
Thanks Jake.
Wishing you all good health and happiness. -
@Jake-Parker i think thats a great idea. Ive been to a few SCBWI conferences that have been switched from in person to online. Theyve worked really well, and its given a person who lives in an isolated community a chance to learn that I didnt have before. I think if the presentations are corded its not as big of an issue, i think for you personally it might be hard to put aside time on multiple days, so id say the middle option might be best of both worlds.
-
@demotlj thatβs so awesome. It really is a great platform for meeting. I think their servers were probably a bit overloaded this week with all the schools and churches setting up meetings.
-
I would love to hear an interview from a freelance artist doing visual development or character design for animation studios. Is it possible to work remotely and how do you get to this position? Is working remotely even an option or is most of the work done inhouse?
-
@hakepe hi! Bobby Chiu on Youtube has tons of these interviews.
-
@Nyrryl-Cadiz thank you! I will check them out.
-
@Pamela-Fraley Sorry about that! Sounds like something is out of sync. I'll check it out and get back to you via email
-
@LisaF I was able to get on this one! That was awesome. I needed that little break. And something about it being a live zoom meeting made my kids okay with giving me a bit of time in my office.
-
With us working from home and some with kids home too ... Plan A seems great to be able to catch sessions live... would love to see Stephen Silver and Marshall Vandruff.
-
@Pamela-Fraley oh good! Glad it worked out!

I know this is very late. I came across an aritst today and would love to see/hear her process a bit more.
I found Anuska Allepuz's arwork in the book " Children's picturebooks - the art of visual storytelling (2rd edition) by Martin Salisbury. The book has a short description on how she works with mxing printmaking, stencil, and handmade stamps, and assumbling the image digitally to create her art. I would love to learn more on how she work, but the internet search does get me far. I am so facinated about how she makes images like this with printmaking and stencils.

Late to the party but love the idea and can't wait ! Hope Plan A will work out but I'll be happy to adapt with any - looking forward
I understand if it's too much to ask but if there was a way to get assignments from the guests and (optionally) have them reviewed this could be super helpful.

This is mad in the best way, thanks for coming up with this, SVS head honchos!!

I'm sure I'm too late but I'd love if you can get Rebecca Green on this online event. Her art is really inspiring and for those who are curious she just shared her process behind her last picture book on her blog :
