JANUARY CONTEST: The tracks in the snow were unlike anything Will had ever seen before.
-
@CLCanadyArts Wow, the expression on the boy's face is great!
-
@xin-li This is amazing!
-
@xin-li no problem, it's nice to know it was helpful and appreciated, thanks SVS has such helpful people a wonderful place to hang out!
-
Here is my resubmission. I think it is a better concept.
William Shakespeare wrote about a walking wood in Macbeth. Maybe he got the idea from a real encounter with a walking tree that left funny tracks in the snow. -
Here is my entry for this month, which I turned into a book spread! I had a lot of fun with this one!
-
I learned a lesson on this one: Don't spend a week drawing fox studies for foxes that you're going to eliminate. Composition (story) comes first!
Thanks for doing these prompts and contests, guys! They really are testing my ideas and skills, and slowly, I'm building a process that has some consistency, even though the "medium" varies.
And I really hand it to all my fellow artists who came up with such creative takes on this prompt!
I just changed out my entry for a version with my name on it. I hope that's ok. It's exactly the same artwork but I keep forgetting to include my name!
-
@chrisaakins tree is lovely!
-
I tried a double page spread with limited palette, going for a woodblock feel.
Any similarity to anyone we know is coincidental. The names Jake and Will are purely arbitrary. -
@LauraA
Love the perspective, the tracks, Will's expression, and the whole concept! -
Lookin' good everyone! If anyone has troubles posting their image to this thread, shoot me an email (I'll see it faster). Good luck!
-
@Laura-Brown Thank you! I'm pretty tired right now and can't see it straight, but am happy to be participating in the contests. You have a pretty creative take on the prompt yourself! Will, Jake, Baba Yaga and a walking chicken house?
-
@jenithornhill
I had the same file dimension problem. Glad you got this posted - I love the winter crop circles! -
@aska Thanks! I based it off the tree I drew for Inktober.
-
Wow! I'm really empressed by all your cool ideas!!!
This is my first post. I just finished in time... :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:.
-
@Serena this is adorable. I love the lighting. Just wanted to let you know you might have missed a word in your text?
-
Hello! This is my first time posting and entering the contest. I'm also a new SVS member so I'm definitely learning a lot as an illustrator! For the prompt, I went for a two page spread. Was going for the little boy, Will, following the tracks to a bigger reveal. (big foot face planted) I loved the challenge being about illustrating something that's hard to draw. It took me a minute to figure it out.
-
@Serena also "where" should be "were?" Hope you don't mind me pointing it out. I wouldn't want anyone to miss out because of text errors especially with such a sweet illustration οΈ
-
I realized after finishing that this could almost be considered spaceman spiff fanart, lol.
But it's done now!
-
@Braden-Hallett DAAANG! Thatβs some nice subsurface scattering! Love the creature design
-
@Braden-Hallett I just noticed that Penny's dog is his pet. Genetic engineering I guess?
