Our SVS Virtual Studio December π 2019

This is a Christmas gift for my best friend. I just finished today, been working on it for about two weeks. It's also the piece I enjoyed doing most this year, coincidentally! This is my first drawing of a furry animal on drafting film using colored pencils, so it was new territory, I had so many skills to learn and feel like I leveled up (sometimes I'd think, no way is it possible to do the white hairs without paint, and then I watched tutorials, experimented, and did them!). 14 hours drawing the final piece, 5x7 inches in size.

@LauraA this is really, really interesting and I love the style. Seems like there's a story behind the texture or how you made it? Cool!!!
-
At the moment I'm working on making portfolio art for board books for very young children. With this one I wanted to refine the colour palette and still have pops of colour. Spot the children in the windows!
-
@Amanda-Bancroft Pretty incredible!
-
The adventures of Charlie and Mattymouse continue. Thank goodness every dainty farm girl carries a bowie knife/machete
-
@Braden-Hallett I really love that drop coming off of the S, so nice! This whole comic is a blast so far.
-
@CLCanadyArts Thanks Doing these kinds of action scenes is what I really love about comics. The gobbet of blood off the S was actually a mistake initially, lol
-
@carlianne so sweet οΈ

Are you enjoying working in this style though?
Yes I am liking it. When I first started to paint digital I did a lot of painting over the outlines. But combining a few different techniques I learned over the years makes it fun again.
Here is another piece I did. Baby Yoda of course.

Someone really liked my gnomes and commissioned me to do a Christmas illustration. Itβs not my best work because it was done in a day! But i had fun

I try to draw a Krampus every holiday season since my old Austrian piano teacher taught me about him when I was around 8 years old. Naughty children getting stuffed into burlap sacks and beaten with broom handles made total sense to me at the time. Not so much my classmates,
"I was gonna carry you off to the underworld for what you did to Billy, Becky, but this tea is amazing!"
-
I really like the purple background colour. It helps warm the image.

@Judy-Elizabeth-Wilson Thank you! I forgot to explain: I chose this composition/media for my friend's gift (instead of paper or a full scene) because I'm trying to gain skills that will help me improve my products. Drafting film is difficult but it will allow me to do non-digital and digital hybrid illustrations in a way previously out of reach to me, such as more detail on animal characters, smoother skies, layers of film on top of paper for 3D effect, etc. I'm just at the beginning of the learning curve Next I have compositions planned using drafting film for character drawings placed on a paper background...we shall see haha

The holidays had me stressed out so have retreated to the Procreate symmetry tool for a few days. Think Iβll complete the set although challenge has been to keep them consistent looking

@MissMushy ooooo these are awesome
-
@Aleksey thanks!

I started linocut as a new medium this April and I've totally fallen in love with it. This piece pushed the boundaries of the kind of work I thought I would be capable of doing:
-
@Fossi-Images I have been following you on IG. I think your linos are AMAZING!
-
@Braden-Hallett I love the line work and the style!
-
@burvantill fun image. I really dig your use of lighting to frame the action.
