How to Ink Group Runthrough Week 3
-
Hi guys! This is where some of us are working through How To Ink 2.0 in the weeks running up to Inktober! There are 4 weeks to get through the meatier bits of the course, which gives us just enough time
Everyone's welcome to participate, but in order to have access to the classes and homework you need an SVS subscription. It's worth it.
If you wanna join and want to catch up, feel free to check out week one here: https://forum.svslearn.com/topic/7905/how-to-ink-2-0-group-runthrough-week-1/123
Feel free to do digital or traditional. It's all good.
This week.
Watch:
'Form Lines' series of videos. Just a few short videos this week.
Homework:
Follow along with Jake and do the exercise he shows you. Try and fill up an entire page!
Extra special awesome homework that only hyper-intelligent apes flung into the far future should even consider':
Do the exercise that Jake shows every day this week as part of your line practice. You could replace, or supplement the contour line exercise.
Feel free to post comments/questions/homework and ask for feedback here !
And have fun

Today's practice. I did this with a brush pen during my break time. So I was not paying very much attention. I think tomorrow I am going to aim for more line consistency - trying to build on top of the previous practices.

Blobby things are fun to draw. -
@burvantill ha ha, so cute, the potato king/prince is awesome
-
@burvantill Your characters are adorable. Nice way to make the exercises more fun!
-
Here is this weekend's practice. Enjoy!

Daily-sortof-accountability
-
@burvantill I love how you incorporate perspective too!
-
@BichonBistro Oh my goodness, these are adorable
-
@BichonBistro Ha ha how cute

Here is my homework so far (dip pen on Bristol board). First just contours then with hatching. I think for cleaner hatching using a dip pen I need to go bigger because it blots too much. (These are about 5x7.) And I think I need more sleep because my hand didnβt feel too steady.
-
@Erin-Cortese Thanks Erin! This course has been really fun because of the emphasis on practice vs. product (so far )βItβs been surprisingly stress-free to let the playful side of my brain do its thing while the other side of my brain is observing what my hand is doing.

The one thing that I REALLY hate about this is that it ACTUALLY WORKS and I am getting better so I really DO NEED TO PRACTICE if I want to get better. Ugh. My impatient self wants instant gratification with little sacrifice. I would much rather assign these exercises to my students than to do them myself.
(All of this is said MOSTLY tongue in cheek)

Some exercises from today!
-
Form line work with some hand control practice. Pentel brush pen.
-
I just did a few minutes ....will keep working on this exercise this week. Hoping my pentel brush shows up soon.
-
One of these days I'll settle on a hatching method that works for me. Today is not that day

I know, right? I wish i could better from the theory side of things alone, but nope!
-
@Braden-Hallett they all look fantastic!

I had intended to do straight line practice around the sunshine but life happens.
