Besides a few fantasy commissions, I am slowly struggling my way through this illustration this month:
-
I'm taking a couple of self-guided schoolism classes. For one class they've been having 5 studies per assignment, so I've already done 17 paintings and I'm only on assignment 4! Here are the ones I've done in July.
-
@TessaW WOW. These looked like photos to me at first. I had to zoom in to check. Are they digital?
-
Here's today's progress, I finally started painting! We'll see what ends up happening with the colors. . . It's a little too pastel-y I think.
-
Back to figure drawing. Trying to be more disciplined with my classes. These are 2 minute poses. I need to figure out how to handle my panic every time the timer dings - giving myself heart attack plus I start to get very scratchy with lines as a result
-
continuin' to play with watercolours

@TessaW
These are some really great studies! I love how clearly you're able to express the textures of each of the surfaces you were painting. I was thinking of taking a few schoolism classes, particularly the color and light class by Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo. -
@Kuarahy
I love the dimension you created in the foliage in the bottom right corner. Great work! -
@Braden-Hallett Nice! Did you end up downloading a good watercolor brush or did you make your own?
-
@burvantill ended up makin' my own Didn't take too much trial and error.
-
@burvantill Thank you! Yes it's digital. I did a study with watercolors for the same class and it sucked. Lol.
@Alicja-W Thanks, that's the class these studies are from- the one by Dice and Robert. It is a ton of painting from life! I feel like I'm learning quite a bit though.
@MissMushy looks like your figure studies are going well!
-
@Braden-Hallett oh awesome.
-
@TessaW thanks! Really starting to enjoy them now
-
Started doing a sketch a day of a famous person/character on Procreate just with values. Crazy how very subtle things can make a huge difference to the recognizability of the face

Bathroom is complete. It was a nightmare and I have many stories to tell. It was truly "Summer Vacation Gone Wrong". Here is my finished work. The tub and tile is the only thing that stayed. Everything else is brand new. Not to bad for a web designer and wanna be illustrator.
-
After the bathroom I took a week to recover and did a little self portrait :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:
And then today I took a few hours to do some fan art. I just love spongebob.
