My cotton collection
-
Just thought I would share my latest collection. This will be turned into notecards for the little shop that carries my work. And hey, they only have two left in stock! I need to contact them to refill their box.
This will also be part of a fabric collection. Spoonflower launched a new bedding product. So, one of these images will be selected for the contest. I think it’s called “neutral bedding.” And because I want to treat myself, it’s going to be my new bedding. At least part of will be my sheets and throw pillows.
Then society 6 products will carry the prints as well. Loving the wheat for a tumbler and the cotton field for a tote
I painted solid background in the gray, aqua, and blush. I’ll add some to the paintings in photoshop. Not sure which ones I’ll put with the floral elements. I wanted to paint the backgrounds on with the florals, but it is so much easier to change things when a blank background.
And hey, did y’all know you could use white to make a great flesh tent in watercolors? Who knew. I have not used the white before. All this time wasted!

@Whitney-Simms so pretty! I especially like the wreath design and the one on the right with the 3 columns.
-
@kadelex thanks! Those are my two favorites as well. The bottom right I won’t use. I don’t like it. But I liked the wheat I made on it. So it wasn’t a total loss.
-
This is gorgeous, @Whitney-Simms !!
-
Simply lovely! So you sell the originals in a shop? Or the shop makes prints of these and turns them into cards?
-
Awe! Thanks @NessIllustration and @Perrij
I print the notecards and sell them in the shop. I would like to sell the originals too. I just need to work out the framing. Know any good wholesale frame places?
-
@Whitney-Simms these are so pretty. I wouldn’t mind using this pattern as a wallpaper or on my bags and stuff. Really pretty
-
@Nyrryl-Cadiz thanks! I’ll edit next week or so and it will be on society6 for bags and such, then spoonflower for wallpaper and fabric. I’m dying to get it edited, but I’m out of town.
-
@Whitney-Simms I love the 3 columns
-
@BichonBistro thanks so much!!!
-
What’s your vote for the submission for “neutral bedding” for those weeks spoonflower competition? It’s going to be displayed as a mock up for a duvet cover. I like the cotton branches. Just not sure!
-
@Whitney-Simms I like the cotton branches on white background
-
Agreed, I like the cotton branches and the vertical striped leaf pattern on the white backgrounds.
-
@Whitney-Simms I love the leaves pattern but personally I wouldn't want it on a white duvet cover as I always turn white stuff pink with rogue red garments. I have 3 white t-shirts left, after that me and white are finished.
-
@Whitney-Simms both the white and darker versions of the cotton branches are lovely. I steer away from white fabric so I'm biased towards the darker one for practicality sake.
-
Beautiful!
-
@Whitney-Simms I actually like the darker background on the cotton because it makes it really pop. I like the white too though and the light green or white look good on the "wreaths" too.
-
I like the leaves pattern the best as well. They all look great!
-
I like the darker background on the cotton too! White is nice but I agree the darker bg makes it pop. super pretty.

Thanks for all your feedback guys! That means a lot. I think I'm going with the cotton branches for the challenge. The white background. I want to edit the dark background a little more. I want to figure out how to the get the watercolor wash to repeat and I need to edit the cotton poofs. I filled it in with white, but the brush looks completely off and not as organic as the watercolor lines. I have some ideas about how to fix it. One reason I'm risking the white bed spread is because my frame is super dark espresso wood. But I have had many white shirts turn blue @sigross ! laundry mixups are the worst!
I think I am going to submit it for the contest here too. The entire collection. Old folk lore counts as superstition, right? Living in "high cotton."
