Group run through creative environment design week 5 art and feedback
-
Dunno why but I found week 4 super hard! I think the subjective study this week will be more fun, though
This week watch the critique videos if you haven't already. There's a BUNCH of little hidden gems in those critiques.
Do exercise 8. Subjective away!
The point where Jake explains ALL the homework is at about the 50 minute mark in the 'reference' video.
Feel free to pop into the discord to chat! PM me if you need a link and instructions
Have fun! If you need to work at a slower pace, that's fine, too.
Post your subjective building study here! Remember, we're not making finished art. We're doing loose studies.

I have the first crit video watched. Really awesome. Want to watch the details and tricks soon too and the second crit video. Gonna have to get up early looong before the kids to get this done lol!

And therefore I didn't come to start week 4...but I will try...soon...maybe later..

Haven't started painting yet, but took some notes on the image I'm studying for Exercise 8 today.
-
Oooo im Using these notes...
-
@Coley You can always break the crits into pieces
-
@JerrySketchyArt Oh wow. Taking those kinds of notes with a thumbnail attached is a really good idea.
I'm gonna have to start doin' this!
-
@Braden-Hallett yeah I had to do that!
I like how you set this up to be at a pace that's easy enough to stay with. super cool. thanks

Purely by selfish accident, I assure you
-
Following @JerrySketchyArt example breaking down something that looks like it would be very complicated to do with notes. It definitely made me less anxious to start.
-
Composition and value study with my trusty "giant wobbly no details allowed brush." Noticing now that I made that background tower too prominent. Noted...
-
@JerrySketchyArt Wow, composition and colour value! This looks great.
-
@JerrySketchyArt Nice! I think you did a good job of capturing the mood 'n values 'n such.
-
Here is my subjective master study, I worked my butt off on this one! I really love this environment, so I decided to challenge myself and go pretty detailed. Out of habit I started sketching in an orange pencil, so I just stuck with it and did my values with it too.
-
@Erin-Cortese Wow! This is great and I will definitely have to step up my game
-
@Erin-Cortese fabulous !
-
-
@JerrySketchyArt Excellently done. I like your choice of simplified colors. And I like the look of the "giant wobbly brush w/o details!"
-
I tried to limit myself with values and not use any lines. I am amazed at how it ended up feeling. Contrast is a powerful tool...
