Creative environment group run through
-
Hi guys! I wanna do what @Susan-Marks did with the gesture class, but with the creative environment design course! Working slowly through the course and doing the workbook that's included will be much better than just listening to the class, I think Doing it together at around the same rate'll keep us interested and honest. We can share feedback, too.
So here's how I see this whole thing goin' down:
We'll break the workbook into chunks. You wouldn't HAVE to follow at this rate, but this is what I'd do.
You, of course, would need the svs subscription to access the course
Week 1: exercises 1-4 (lots of thumbnails)
Week 2: exercise 5
Week 3: exercises 6a-6c
week 4: exercises 7-8
week 5: exercises 9-10Every week we'd post our work on a forum thread (maybe a new thread for each week?) and use discord for chatting about the work. Every week we could slowly give feedback, and gradually work our way through the course.
Let me know if you're interested! I'll try and tag the people who expressed interest on the other thread.

Absolutely!
-
Im totally in. I’ll probably be going at a slower rate but yes im in.
-
I’d like to give it a try. My schedule is erratic so I might be in and out but when I watched the videos before I only did 1/4 of the exercises so I hope this might keep me on track better.
-
That sounds great @Braden-Hallett I'm in. I like the idea of into being broken up into weeks. Are you thinking week 1 would be next week and post by the end of the week.
-
I am also very interested, want to find time for it, although I am simultaneously working on paid project.
So when do we start, next week? -
I would like to be part of this. When do we start?
-
@Braden-Hallett Great idea, I’m in!
-
@Braden-Hallett yes yes yes and ...yes I love this idea! I have to go figure out the discord thing..........going off to google it now and see about signing up thanks!
-
Awesome!
I'm thinkin' we'll officially start Monday, and we'll have a soft deadline of sunday nights (I'll start a new thread for each week every sunday night).
@SketchyArtish had a link to a discord channel we can use for chatting in the 'Discord for the arts'. If I decide to set up my own with voice channels I'll post a link later on
-
@Braden-Hallett great idea. This will help me keep myself accountable too

Click here to join the Discord for the Arts
There is a quick registration form they use to filter out trolls or spammers. Once you've done that you can access the entire server. Just mention that you're from SVS and you should get right in. There is a voice chat in there if we want to use that. We're doing today's portion of the 100 Head Challenge in the voice channel right now.
-
What a great idea! I am finishing Mastering Perspective right now and after that I was planning to take the Creative Environment class, so this is the perfect timing! I am totally in and thank you all for this opportunity! :smiling_face_with_open_mouth:
-
@SketchyArtish I still don't understand what discord is about tho I did ask to join discord for the arts Will we chat live together there? Will we set times for that? I am a confused middle age woman right now trying to register on a gaming site lol
-
@Coley Discord is kinda like Skype, except better, fast, newer, shinier, etc. It's just a really awesome chat room program. So, yes. Live chat.
You can use it to chat via text, or voice chat. It keeps everyone involved together and organized so everyone knows where to go to chat. Chat chat chat. Gosh I'm saying chat a lot.
Though we COULD chat back and forth on these forums, it would quickly get a tad untenable. It's easier to post pics and maybe feedback on the forums and use discord for the informal stuff.
That being said, we'll see!
-
@Braden-Hallett ok , it's an expiriment fun stuff. We'll see how it goes. I am not very techie so we will see if I can figure it out ha ha
-
@Coley I see that you've joined the server. That's step 1 down!
Next, you will want to click on the channel called "directory" on the left. Take that application info and paste it into "the-pond". Just fill the info in to the best of your ability. I'll try to make sure everyone gets approved.
To upload an image you can simply drag it from your desktop into the chat section, or click the + button on the left side of the chat.

Okay I joined up -just included my 2018 digital collection for the three images no problem. Waiting for approval and next steps, thanks.

I also joined Discord, it was not that easy...
