Holiday promos

Time to start on some images for holiday-themed promotion. Here is a sketch designed to fit into the 3-column setup of Instagram (and double, possibly, as twitter banner for the season). Feedback highly welcome! Do all poses read?

@smceccarelli overall its a great concept. couple suggestions: the bear facing away looks odd. I might reverse him and the little one hanging from the tree, and then have the bear carrying the tree looking back over his should at the one hanging. And the large bear would work better if his current left foot (right if you flip him) was forward in a walking motion.
One idea would be to have them all "dance-walking" in line to decorate the tree the bear is carrying, maybe adding some decorations in the 4 trailing bears' paws. or they could all be wrapped in Christmas lights.

@smceccarelli This is great! Super adorable. I love that you can use it for both a Twitter banner and 3 images on Instagram. Great idea!
The only thing that's not reading for me is the bear in the center with the scarf - it took me far too long to "get" what was happening with his arm on the left. I see it now (his arm is linked with the bear next to him) and maybe that would improve when you go to colour, but right now it's awkwardly not reading well for me. -
I agree with the above comments. For some reason the bear facing away seems a bit off to me--it stands out because the others look so great! And the scarf bear's arm does get lost with the line work as is, HOWEVER if the bears are different colors/values I think the issue would be resolved, so it might just be a problem in this sketch stage that will disappear once you get to painting. Fun image!
I'm really enjoying seeing what you're doing for promotion etc.. Being very pregnant while chasing a toddler means that at the moment I'm mostly just coasting art wise...I'm just watching and appreciating and waiting on the day when I have a couple hours to myself to draw XD.

@smceccarelli I think this will turn out great! I immediately thought of two pieces:
Where The Wild Things Are:
Calvin & Hobbes:
I kind of like seeing the different perspective of the turned-around bear. If you wanted, you could slightly turn the head so he/she is looking back at the one hanging on the tree, perhaps in astonishment. Or maybe take one of the other bears and turn them more, so they're not all facing the same direction - like the one that can't see with the hat on its head.
Overall, I'm diggin' it! Nice work.

it's so cool! it reminds me of dancing bear Baloo in old Jungle Book
-
Wow this piece looks great! Would be nice as a FB banner as well.
There are already so many great suggestions made, I would add that it might be nice to make the hanging bear a little smaller and the bear on the left side has his leg crossed in front of him, maybe it would read better if the foot (his right foot) would be a bit more directed forwards, towards the viewer. -
Thank you all!! @tombarrettillo @DanetteDraws @Sarah-LuAnn @Lawnz @aska @Lawnz @Renske-D So great suggestions - I am seeing all the issues you mention and clearly need to play around with the drawing and the poses a bit more before moving on.
Meanwhile sketching out more ideas - really rough thumbnails! The reference to Calvin and Hobbes has reminded me of all of Watterson's fabulous snowmen... -
@smceccarelli The hairdryer, HA!
-
@smceccarelli Oh I love this ... The bear with the hat is my absolute favorite.. I really love the different perspectives you have going on.
-
@smceccarelli these are great. And, yes, Watterson's snowmen were the best!
-
Love the snowmen!
-
Redraw of the dancing bears - grateful for all the good feedback!
-
@smceccarelli I thought the first one was really good but like this one even better. Really fun drawing and so expressive.
-
@smceccarelli oh I love it!! The changes makes it much better.
-
@smceccarelli this is much better. one more minor thing I see is the front bear's mouth is blocked by the tree trunk, making his smile hard to read. Other than that, this is really good. Looking froward to the color!
-
@smceccarelli I absolutely love these! The changes you made definitely add to it. It kind of has a classic Disney feel to it , especially with the the first bear with the hat and the bells. Love the snow men too, looking forward to seeing a developed version of them!
-
Snow people series for this week's instagram - thoughts and suggestions welcome!
-
Your stuff is wonderful as usual! Especially LOVE the middle one--and the kid having the hair dryer for his sidearm! Brilliant.
-
@smceccarelli Awesome, Simona - I love it!
