I am working on the cover for our new children's book, The Adventures of Super Liam, and would like some feedback.

Liam is a little boy who was born with severe disabilities. He was adopted into a family who loved him very much. He recently passed away. In the story, Liam is super hero, and his super power is love. The cover shows his family gathered at his memorial service, and Super Liam saying goodbye. Liam's brothers and sisters also use wheelchairs, and his whole family is dressed as superheroes. Liam is signing "I Love You" to his family as he flies overhead.

I am looking for feedback on composition, color, and over all layout. The family prefers the illustrations to have a somewhat realistic look.

One question not art related - I tried to make the colors opposite of the Superman colors due to copyright, but I don't think it works as well. Is it necessary to reverse the colors, or can I keep them the same as Superman (like in the photo) but with an L on his chest?

I am also including a character sketch I did of Liam's face in colored pencil. The family likes this, but I would like feedback from other illustrators before I go ahead and start working on the digital version.
