Spray Paint Art
-
So I took a break from the digital stuff and wanted to get my hands on some new medium. Spent the last few weeks watching tons of videos on spray paint art and the different techniques. Got some supplies and spent the last few days playing around. Lots of mistakes, lots of throw away's but I am starting to get the hang of it. I did one piece for a birthday gift and another for my daughter. I will keep at it and hopefully turn it into some sort of profit. Here are some process pics and the finals of two that made it out.
Preparing the canvas. Usually its done on poster board, but I thought it would be cool to try canvas.

After the canvas turned out ok, I started to play around with different techniques on poster board. I did this one for my daughter.

Wow they are truly beautiful thanks for sharing! Was it all spray paint or did you go in with brush as well to do the smaller details?
-
@ambiirae Thanks! a little brush to clean up a little bit of the overspray and a palette knife to cut in some details on the mountain.
-
@chip-valecek Did she love it?
-
@chip-valecek Is the mountain supposed to look like a bird of prey? It kind of looks like it to me.
-
These are beautiful, spray painting looks a lot of fun.
-
@marsha-kay-ottum-owen She did love it. I started one for my son but I messed up and had to scrape it. I will try again in a few days when i get some free time. As for the mountain there was no planning on how it would look. Just blocked in the color and started to cut away at it.

Beautiful!
PS. Make sure you are a wearing a really good mask to protect your lungs from all those fumes (not sure which one you would need, but regular painters mask would not be enough) and work in a well-ventilated area or outside.

@charlie-eve-ryan I am working in my garage with the door open. I also have a good mask I bought when I was working on spraying bleach to clean mold in our attic. I just need to remember to wear it lol. I was so excited to try this I forgot to wear it. But I am going to continue to work on this and will make sure to wear it.

I really like the way the clouds/fog are done. Very cool. It seems like a fun process. I have to laugh at the wearing the mask comment. I don't know how many times I have to nag my husband to wear a mask/ear plugs/safety glasses. It's a constant struggle! lol.

Very nice, Chip. I have watched some of those videos as well, and it is neat to see the process, using fairly simple and common objects to make the textures and shapes. What are you using for the clouds?
-
@tombarrettillo A piece of poster board and then tear the edges in different shapes. Then lay it down and spray with white.
-
Fun foray into another medium! These turned out great, Chip!
-
Did a couple more pieces this past weekend. Having a lot of fun doing them.
