Our SVS Virtual Studio FEBRUARY 2022

Another sketch from my trip to Lake Placid for cross-country skiing (or in this case, walking.) I keep hoping that one day these sketches will turn into great backgrounds for an illustration but so far the SVS prompts haven't lined up. I need a prompt like, "Riley decided caution was the better part of valor."

So happy I finally finished a full page illustration. It's been a while.

!
Tried posting this the other day, didn't work for some reason. Here's a character I finished this week. A frog as a science teacher. I have a not-so-fond memory of dissecting frogs in middle school.
-
@demotlj I am such a sucker for ink drawings. It's been a bit since I did a drawing in pen. I have my very first ink brush pens on the way from amazon though! Mwahaha!
-
@kayleenartlover I cannot believe it took me 3 days to realize that I drew the hand (holding the scissors) backwards. Whyyyyy?!
-
@kayleenartlover I do that ALL THE TIME! In this case I think you could have got away with fixing the pic and editing the post without anyone noticing. Those long froggy fingers look almost the same. I didn't notice until you said something

I finished reading Kami Garcia’s Raven and BeastBoy series. It inspired me to work on a comic book idea that had been cooking in my head for almost a decade. Here is one of the characters I created for the comic book. More to come…

Husbands birthday is tomorrow he wanted me to design a traditional style owl tattoo for him… this is a first for me, and deadline is tomorrow! Update: finished early! He’ll have to redraw it of course because I’m sure his hands are much steadier than mine, my line work is a little uneven…
-
Should I post the actual tattoo when he’s done?

Here is my second character I developed for my comic. I am trying to go for an urban college kid feel.
-
This took me a bit (a lot) longer than I expected but I managed to finish it as a portfolio piece. No Riley for me this month - I can't deal with another full-pager!
-
My morning coffee is usually accompanied by some character doodles. I start with very basic shapes like triangles, hearts, squares, ovals, circles, and then sometimes I just let the pencil go in a weird squiggle and see what I see in the shape. These are two I’m working on right now the page is full of soon to be rendered characters. Pencil on printer cardstock.

@lizardillo You did such a great job on this! I like the story, character and composition.
-
Did more work on the mural…
-
@burvantill I didn't notice either
@kayleenartlover this froggy is terrifying the way he is looking at me with the scissors haha -
@demotlj Love it! I ran a 4-dog team for many years and took a spin around my pasture on my x-country skis about and hour ago. You captured this well. Cheers!

@kim-hunter Thanks. It was so much fun to watch them; I imagine it's great fun to sled with them.
