@Kevin-Longueil It definitely reads as water. I really like the monochromatic look and I almost don't want you to color it. I really hope this one wins.
Updated - fox on stilts

I'm finally feeling like the composition is working - i moved the fox farther to the left and back again about 1000 times but it just keeps looking better where he is so i think i will go with it - i replaced the shotgun with a little rabbit ... i think it was a good move - now that i am posting my progress i see a few tangents as usual... also i painted out the chickens around the coop....did not plan that.....lots to do still (especially figuring out my values) - any feedback is always very appreciated.
I posted the thumbnail i started from below....does anyone else start each drawing feeling like they've forgot how to draw?

@Kevin-Longueil I am really enjoying the evolution of your piece ๏ธ

@Jenna-Jenks Thank you Jenna!

I like the addition of the little rabbit. It makes it more cozy (in spite of the thieving fox!) I think the composition is quite good and has a nice flow. Are you planning on adding any other color? I like the old fashioned tone but since you put the rust color on the young rabbit, I didn't know if you were going to add spot color anywhere else. I was thinking you might add a bit of rust color on the chicken's comb to call attention to it.
I love it!

@demotlj Thank you Laurie! Iโm so glad you are liking the little rabbit. Iโve been experimenting all day and cleaning up edges and lines. I think I will be going with the addition of a lantern next to the little rabbit ...was thinking this was early evening and the lantern could give me a more believable way to add some warm color in and around the rabbits ( the chickenโs comb should get a bit of color too as you have pointed out ) - Thank you for the feedback!

@chrisaakins Thank you Chris! I will keep it mostly monochromatic as you say and I am glad to hear that the water is reading as being water ! Iโm not sure why I have suddenly become so unsure of this piece but it was really helpful to read your reply

It definitely looks like water. I'm with @chrisaakins -- I hope you win

I love this so much. Something about your style is so soothing, even if the subject matter is a little dark. Nice work

@Jeremy-Ross Thank you Jeremy! I am so glad to hear that you like the OZ stuff
Thought i should post the "final"on to this thread - so much detail is lost from the original...not sure what lesson there is for me in that...
