Meditation for artists!
I've noticed a lot of us creatives get kind of burned out doing projects or just with every day life, and I found this lovely form of meditation for artists that I thought I would share!

Do I belong at SVS?
Salutations all!
I joined SVS yesterday and attended the Dec critique yesterday afternoon (so many lovely works!)
I asked Will and Jake if the January contest was open to realistic art. They told me that they did accept all forms of art, but that the judges tended to favor animated children's book styles. (which I am very much not)
I love all of the works I've seen here (you guys have wonderful art!) but I'm feeling a bit out of place. I'm wondering if my work is really a good fit for this group if it will be looked upon in a dismissive light due to being photo realistic over cartoony.
There's always room to grow and improve, but I mainly came here more to learn about the business side than the drawing side since I already feel pretty okay with my skills. This is an example of my work, please give me an honest opinion, should I look for another place to learn that's a little more oriented to my style, or do you think it matters?

RE: Our SVS Virtual Studio January 2🥳2😃!
I've had a lot of folks I care about losing their fur babies lately. I always feel sad when I'm painting pieces like this knowing how loved and missed they are, but I am honored that I've been given the opportunity to create something that can bring a recaptured fondness to counterbalance the loss being felt. I hope I did his memory justice.

RE: Snow Pandas Critique
@Suji-Park I think they both are a very nice perspective depending on what you are saying with the image. If you are expressing an intimate moment in conversation, the cropped close up feels appropriate, but if you are giving a sense of closure (like an ending scene where you are leaving off with a sense of contentment and friendship, the panned out imagine is more fitting (in my opinion of course)
️ Either way, both perspectives are quite lovely

RE: Featured Student for March
So far for March I've done an R2-D2 playing with colored pencils and a good old fashioned graphite piece of Roy Batty from Blade Runner!
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain."

RE: What do YOU do?
Typically if I am completely unhappy with a work, I'll trash it, but it's been a long time since I've felt a work was a complete fail. That said, I always see someplace where I can improve after I've finished a piece. I think if you don't see room for improvement then you'll never truly be great.

RE: Resources to help my five-year-old artist
@KathrynAdebayo That's fantastic work especially for her age!
I have a five and an eight year old that I'm always trying to think of things to introduce them to artistically too. Would love to see what folks suggest

RE: FEBRUARY CONTEST: NIGHTFALL
@sarahlash I love the perspective of distance you give the ladder, and the droplets on the webbing and brightness of the etched design from her throw is really nice touches

@Jenna-Jenks This is beautiful. Was this done traditionally?
Yes! I don't do anything in digital form at this time (Most of my work I take on the go to my other job LOL!) This piece is India Ink though if you were wondering the medium
