RE: Our SVS Virtual Studio JANUARY 2021!!!!!!
"and there stepped from behind the large rocks the strangest man the travelers had ever seen. He was quite short and stout, standing no more than three feet high and had a big, oversized head, which was smooth on the top and as flat as a hammer. The head was supported by a thick, long, fat neck full of many layers of wrinkles. But the body had no arms at all, not even stubs."
Still working on Oz portrait redo's when i can - the Hammer-Head has come a long way from the original sketch but you can still see the resemblance - there have been a few iterations before this but i think i have finally got something worth keeping with this one - i feel like this may be a new best for me - maybe work on the scarecrow next..thanks for looking!

The Fighting Trees - Work in progress (Updated)
Yup...another Wizard of Oz piece ... i'm getting there though
This is a work in progress - this one really gave me trouble at first but i finally hit on this composition this weekend and i'm liking it - i composed it so that they are facing to left in contrast to most of the other Oz pieces - my idea is that the crow is noticing Dorothy and crew coming toward the trees - curious if the composition is working for folks? Still lots of work to do - any feedback always appreciated

RE: Struggling understand my study - please help
@Only-The-Real-Survive hello - your drawing is looking good! the horizon line is a constant and does not change or a better way to put it is it represents our eye level so if our eye level changes the position of the horizon line changes. Vanishing points can be anywhere ... they do not have to hit the horizon but are relative to it when constructing drawings using perspective - if the guitar were laying down on its back and we made a box around it the 2 vanishing points of the box would hit the horizon line - if you draw a line straight up from where the construction lines meet the horizon line you will have a line that represents where the new vanishing points would be if you change the axis of the box.... if we lift up one end of the box you would still have the bottom edge that is on the ground having the same vanishing point it did before when it was laying flat(as long as that is the axis and the box is not tilted left or right also) the other vanishing point has risen above the horizon line though .. but it will be on that straight line we drew earlier ... so basically a vanishing point can end up anywhere but the horizon line stays the same....this is probably very confusing to read... I’ll try to upload a drawing
EDIT: o.k. here is a quick sketch of what i was trying to explain...maybe David Hohn will jump in on this he is awesome with perspective and could probably explain it much better
2nd Edit: I just saw that you you did not make the drawing ..sorry ..I missed that

RE: February Yeti cooking - Update - with Color
Just posting my final in this thread - all of my color comps looked really bad but the orangey purpley one seemed best - so i went with orange purple green

RE: FEBRUARY CONTEST: YETI COOKING
@Gaelle-Grizzly Thank you! I like yours too! i'm a bit lost with color... i had the words "Purple,Orange, Green" written at the top of my canvas to help me stay in my tertiary color scheme!

RE: February Yeti cooking - Update - with Color
@Kevin-Longueil
Here is an update...we lost power in our neighborhood yesterday evening so i have been scrambling today to get the color going - only part of tomorrow left to get the background, bench, fluffy stuff on the yeti, and steam done! (and to maybe put a tiny cup in the rooster's raised foot) - this is about my fourth try at a full color piece and am super surprised that i am kind of liking it - @chrisaakins @Melissa-Bailey-0 @Valerie-Light @Kim-Rosenlof i really appreciate your feedback and hope you don't think i'm just ignoring your great advice by trying to still make the roof work for this....it may still end up gone but i really am trying to make a "cozy space" image out of this if i can - thank you again
