Our SVS Virtual Studio JULY💥2019
-
@Erin-Cortese Hi Erin, These look like so much fun! Where did you find the shape challenges?
-
We took a road trip to Yellowstone and one of my friends was kind enough to watch our house (and my guinea pigs) while we were gone. So I painted this illustration of her 3 cats as a thank-you gift. I can't just paint plain pet portraits I guess! This was also my first time trying out gouache paint and colored pencils.

@carriecopadraws Looks beautiful, great work

@Kristin-Dudish It’s from an app called Discord For The Arts. A little while ago @Braden-Hallett organized a thread on this forum for SVS members who wanted to work through the Creative Environment course together, and he suggested the app as a way to share work and communicate. The class is done, but SVS members still use the app to share work. You have to be sent an invite to join, but I have tagged @Braden-Hallett, he may be able to help.
-
@MichaelaH I love these, you find such creative solutions to the shapes! The pigs are my favourite.
-
@Kristin-Dudish Here's an invite the discord
You'll need to install the program, then answer some questions in 'the pond' (it's to keep bots n such out I think)
Feel free to send me a PM if you need any help.

Thanks for replying @Erin-Cortese and @Braden-Hallett !
I finally decided to try out the forums and I'm really glad I did - it seems like such a friendly & helpful place...
I appreciate the invite & can't wait to check it out. Thanks again!

My brother's goin' to Gen con with some dnd adventures he's written. I've been requisitioned to do monsters 'n maps
-
@Erin-Cortese Thank you!
-
@Braden-Hallett the movement in that creature is stellar.
-
@jakecrowe Thanks super easy to make a runny animal when it's got so many leggy bits.
-
@Braden-Hallett This look like bugs that I would occasionally see in my dorm room at grad school. Uggh! (Ughh to the bug, not your drawing!)
-
Finally finished the watercolor version of this. I used the paints that Vesper Stamper recommends in the SVS class on watercolor palettes and really like the way it turned out.
-
New thing we are doing, two shapes and 1 stroke silhouette to work on.
-
Here's something I did today for a Julike prompt: your favorite superhero in your childhood dream job. So, Wonder Woman as a botanist/landscaper. I'll work on painting it tomorrow!
-
My daily challenge for the Discord for the Arts
And I decided to go traditional (watercolor, multi-liner, brush pen) with today's JulyFy promt - Adorable
-
Here are a couple of things I'm working on.!
One is a character commission for a D&D campaign for a friend of mine. This is one as a fan art of this anime show that i'm currently watching, planning of selling prints of this.
And the last one is a painting study I recently finished, trying to loosen up in my brush strokes.
-
Somehow brainstorming for the July prompt “ Summer Vacation Gone Wrong” produced the character idea of a disco rooster on the beach and I couldn’t leave it alone. Here’s the quick sketch.
-
I was working on developing some characters, but I'm not yet happy with the color palette (too intense I think). Eventually, I'd like to pitch a composition with mermaid/merboy to Highlights or similar publication as a sample.
-
I'm new to SVS, working on the figure. Camping with my wife, kids and friends!
