Choosing a name for my portfolio website

@gary-wilkinson Another vote for garywilkinsonart.com
-
Why not just garywilkinson.art? I just checked and it is available.

@gary-wilkinson If you have the funds, I would grab them all (and even others). Make one your primary (I think I prefer "garywilkinsonart" as it is broader than "gwilkinsonillustration", allowing you to more easily migrate across industries be it contract illustration, image licensing, selling of prints/originals, etc.), then you can put a redirect or domain masking on the ones not used as your primary, so that if you can use any of them if you change your mind or have additional needs in the future.
For instance, I have www.ScottMonaco.com that currently goes to www.QuietYell.com - Ultimately, whenever I have time, I will have 2 sites (probably others with the other domain names I have) that will present different content.
@natiwata has at least 2 sites that he uses to separate out his different art:

Thanks for everyone's advice. I decided to go with www.garywilkinsonart.com but will add more as suggested if needed in the future as suggested by @QuietYell . It's pretty simple and needs more content adding, but I'm happy to have my first website up and running

@gary-wilkinson Great looking site and great work!! Found an extra word in your " About Gary Wilkinson" page - right now it says " after completing his a BA in " i think "his" might work better than "a" in the context of the rest of the paragraph.. either would work though of course - i do not know who the guy with the blue winter hat and wide eyed stare is but that one is probably my favorite piece - really nice!
-
Congratulations @Gary-Wilkinson ! It looks great!
-
@kevin-longueil Thanks! I got rid of that pesky a.
I was wondering which portfolio set I should have as my main home page. At the moment it's my caricature work as I have a lot more pieces in my portfolio, but I would like to push my children's illustration work a lot more. Should I switch it over or wait until I have more finished pieces ready to show?
-
Why not have a mix of images using both styles? Maybe make a splash page where the main image changes and then have a portfolio link on that. That way if you wish to ad an online store, block, etc., you have the infrastructure already in place.
-
@gary-wilkinson Love your new website--very professional and easy to scroll through quickly. If you're wanting to push the children's book art, I would definitely make that that portfolio the default on the home page. Maybe wait until you've got at least 10 strong pieces (a mix of b/w and color would be fine I think as long as their all solid) to share, then make the switch.

Really nice website @Gary-Wilkinson!
-
I'd go with garywilkinson.com if that is available. You will thank me later, just make it easy for people. No need to be exciting in the name. If I could have leewhite.com, I would do it in a second. But it was already taken.

@lee-white I also think it's less of a pain if you have a short simple name to type in. Some of them are so long and hard to remember.
