SVS Virtual Studio JULY 2022
-
Okay, So the month of June was put aside to visit my Mom England and finish illustrating a small beginning reader book. I've worked with this publisher for about 12 years and "Quack" is a reoccurring character in a series of books they market to the education market. I think I would draw him the same but I would probably steer away from the black line though they really like him. Included a few sketches, traditional water color and then the adjustments when scanned in. Enjoy.

@Larue This is neat, thanks for sharing!
That's cool you've been working with this publisher for about 12 years! How did you first get in touch with them?
-
@MelissaJacie I believe it was through a site called guru.com that connects freelancers with various projects. Warning, people don't want too pay much,
and there are lot of personal projects but it helped me to learn the ropes about communication, contracts etc. and helped me to build my confidence. -

I've been away from this forum for quite a while, but decided to pop in again to see how people are doing. The latest book I've illustrated was recently published here in Sweden, which feels really cool. So now I'm taking some time off to just draw things I enjoy, and practice some color harmony and composition along the way.
