Our SVS Virtual Studio 🎄DECEMBER 2020🎄
-
31 days! We have 31 days left of this crazy year. Let’s all put our collective minds together and will the universe to make 2021 be a better year all around for everyone.
What’s everyone working on right now? Any Christmas cards going on?
Imagine you are walking through a studio silently looking over people’s shoulders at their work. This is NOT a place for critiques. You may applaud, encourage, ooh and ah only.

After listening to the 3-point perspective I wondered what my underpaintings looked like without the line art. I decided to try to get crisp edges but also the painterly l like. One of my students is painting a picture of an elephant looking at a goldfish in a bowl (to show memory). I decided to explore the prompt as a doodle or study. I may finish it at some point.
Not sure if it is successful in getting that “crisp” look @Lee-White was talking about. -
I am working on a children's book about a ninja who isn't as brave as he thought. It's mainly a lesson on how it's ok to be scared as long as you don't allow it to prevent you from doing important things. Here are some examples:
-
Doing pet portraits, with real physical paint! It's been so long since I touched a real brush, and it feels mighty good. I also went into a real life art supply store
-
I'm trying to get more used to Photoshop as a primary tool. Most of my stuff is done on Procreate. So I'm trying to do at least 1 painting every other day on PS. Here's todays. Any constructive criticism is always welcome

Re-emerging finally from one of my longest depression relapses in 20 years. Building home, plus moving plus global pandemic did me in. But, as the song says, I’m not broken just bent.
Been finding my way back through painting and crafting various projects for grandkids. Did this painting finally for grand baby’s room - included her favourite toys and activities
Also, in my new neighborhood, so many pets, been thinking about offering pet portraits as a way to make a few $.
So been practicing in acrylics with images from pexels . This one is in process. So rusty
Hope everyone is doing well out there.

@MissMushy , it's hard to deal with depression at any time, but this year has been really bad for many of us, myself included. So glad to see you're pulling through. The pet portrait looks great so far - can't wait to see it when it's done!

Here is the pic more fleshed out.

@Kat thanks! Sending you good vibes too.

)) I already posted this last month without being a Christmas card but here's the Christmas card version.
I love the gaze between the elephant and fish @chrisaakins! Seems adorably accurate to me. -
@Jeremiahbrown thanks!

@MissMushy Thanks for sharing...I feel for you...it's been a weird and difficult year, especially for us who struggle with depression. It's a long and constant battle; a lonely one too. I'm glad you are out of the valley; wish you all the best with your art. The puppy is looking great! Take care!

@kylebeaudette Wow! Such detail! Awesome work

I watched ParaNorman tonight (my very favorite Laika movie) and doodled. Suddenly I got inspired and absolutely knew what I had to do. I'm calling it "Rite of Spring". LOL!
-
I am painting my slovember illustration on converse shoes:-)
-
"Make a Joyful Noise"
I did a black and white version for Inktober's prompt "music". In Slowvember I added in colors and more details. -
@aska fun! This is no easy task. I’ve done a few pairs of snowboard gloves for a friend of mine and it’s difficult to take a drawing done on paper or the iPad and then try to recreate it on canvas/suede with ink. I love your slowvember image by the way.

@kylebeaudette this looks awesome. Hope you post the finished piece at some point!

I have just wrapped up Folktale week, the first illustration challenge I was part of.
