Hi all !
If you were entering my studio right now you would see very detailed small animals illustrations for a children book... kind of a small encyclopedia ! I had the chance to do the first 2 books of this serie. I would gladly show you but it is still confidential, since the book is not done ! But I can show you the one I did for the "flowers and plants". It is very hard work because professionals review the illustration to confirm if it is 100% accurate... but it is good practice for sure !
You can see what the books looks like in my portfolio here : http://www.valeriedesrochers.com/portfolio/autour-de-toi-plantes/That said, I don't have time to do the "Slowvember" challenge... but having work to do, it is a good reason right ?

@ValD Love this!
-
I've got one final set of animal posters to knockout for work, so I'm going with "jungle/international" for the theme on this one. This one's South America, with jaguars and a toucan.

@Katie-Kordesh The palette and rendering remind me of the old pink panther cartoons. I love it!
-
I need to work on drawing kids now that I got animals down pretty well.
-
More kiddos. Iโm really bad at this. I need a lotta practice. Some of them look not so bad, I suppose.
My faves are the grinning redhead, the blushing boy, and the surprised girl. What are yours? -
I have been working on using triadic colour schemes in double page spreads.
-
@skillydan this is a really attractive style -esp the paper cut out look.
-
Hereโs a piece from a series I just finished up! If youโd like to see the rest Iโll be continuing to post the rest on my Instagram
-
Iโve been having a lot of difficulty with mental blocks lately so I really wanted to do something fun. I decided to do my own Christmas card this year, with my dog as the star of the show!
-
Decided that since I finished a major paper for one of my classes, I would reward myself by participating in folktale week. I did the prompt for birth. It is a folktale that the ox and donkey were at Christโs birth. It is based on an allusion in Isaiah 1:3
-
Finished a 2-page spread in a childrenโs book Iโm working on.
-
Thank you @Heather-Boyd I really enjoyed working on this piece and everything just kind of fell into place exactly how I wanted it to.
