      @Arthur-Campling
      Thanks for the detailed response! I love my pencil sketches but they lose their “life” when I redraw over them in procreate. I’ll be rethinking my process.

      Day 31 - Slice

      So I finished! With a big delay so I voluntarily disqualify myself from Inktober :D. It was a great experience. Thank you guys for all the nice words and support. 😍
      I decided to continue the strips. I am taking a break for a few weeks to plan out how to return. I'll be posting some sketches in the meantime. Also, I'll be more active on the forums from now on as I was very busy working on the strips. Cheers 🤗

      I like your illustration. But I would change the drawing of the fish. I used red fish vectors in my work and they are incredible. Take a look, they definitely improve the illustration.

      @H-Moon Thanks H! Your concept idea is very creative! I'm generally more drawn towards art that communicates negative emotions like loss, loneliness etc through metaphor, but i can see how an uplifting message would be more popular with a wider audience

      @Elizabeth-Rose Looks wonderful! A perfect May book - my family is trying to keep our chickens out of the garden as we speak.
      Seeing your whole process is great, and the final illustrations look wonderful - my daughters would be all over it!

      @Erin-Cortese 🤣I wish! There is that minor detail of “deliverables”...but at least now it’s the tolerable frustrations of a learning curve. Now I am testing what a PDF file exported from Affinity Designer looks like in Adobe Illustrator. I still have a basically unused copy of AI CS5, so at least I have a rough idea of what things look like.

      My initial impression is too many layers is error-prone, so thinking I should flatten layers that I don’t want edited: for example, merge the dog’s parts (including shadows) before I export as an editable PDF—does that seem logical?

      The export as an editable PDF produced some unexpected output: a missing head 😱, thick pen lines for the scale bowl highlights and less than crisp text for “Scale & Balance” when printed (I exported “text as outlines”). I am troubleshooting those. I hope I can meet my Aug 5 deadline 😬

      I see some errors in the lack of precision when I joined objects (base of scale with vertical pole, for example) when I print on a larger scale (6x6 inches) so I have some additional cleanup to do.

      I think I probably made a mistake creating the initial vector document with defaults (144 dpi, rgb color space, document sized as a 2.5 x 3 business card). The total file size on export is surprisingly small (between 500-900 KILOBYTES), so I am a worried about implications of that, although that is supposedly the reason for vector. I am accustomed to file sizes in the mega-megabytes when I scan watercolors for printing.

      I need to make sure I understand unfamiliar export options like resampling and ICC profile options and the impact of exporting as CMYK a file I created as RGB. These are the things I am looking at for the PDF export. I think the SVG, PNG and JPG export options should be easier to decipher.

      @Heather-Boyd I think the believability would depend on the context / world in which it lives. But you could still tilt the head down a little so it will have more of a projected beam directed downwards, if that makes figuring out the light / shadow of your scene easier... :-]

      Have you seen this great book, “Harold Loves His Woolly Hat”, from the talented Vern Kousky?

      I love the beautiful watercolor style, attention to detail and textures. Soooooo GOOD!

      Im gonna add a section for “personal projects “ where im gonna do like a blog format for my process for different things like art challenges and my webcomic.
