SVS Account Question

I'm sure the answer is here somewhere, but I'm having trouble. I've been a member for awhile, but I've not gotten to participate much--life. I really wanted to participate in the March contest, so I logged in and posted. It seems I have two different accounts, although they both use the same login info. I noticed it when my avatar showed up as an S. I can go to the courses, and my avatar is there. Are these supposed to be two separate accounts? I know the forum is free, so I'm guessing this is why, but I wanted to make sure.

One account is for the classes and another one for this forum. That’s all I know and hope that helps.
