Last night I had an hour all to myself and started sketching this master study of Ladybug Girl. So fascinating breaking down these master copies to understand what the artist were thinking.
Hereโs my rough sketch. Iโll share the finished copy in my Book Cover copy post once completed.

@Braden-Hallett, ah yes! I have heard of this cartoon, yet never watched until - well, now!
Forgive me, Iโm 40 and grew up watching The Simpsonโs, Heman and all the other 80โs cartoons!
My daughter only watches Peppa Pig style shows and movies, so Iโm definitely out of touch...
-
@Katie-Kordesh This is beautiful! I love the colors

It's been a while since my last post here ... I've been busy with a project which I designed and illustrated: A teaching book for nigerian third graders to learn how to read in English. Here some spot illustrations and part of the cover:
You could say this is my first job, yeah!
-
They look really super! Congratulations!

@Meta This is beautiful!

Don't worry. Invader Zim was very much a cultish flash in the pan. If you're REALLY curious about the show see if you can find 'Dark Harvest' (just as dark as it sounds) or the halloween special. I think they're mostly on youtube these days

Look, I know you LIKE the dog treats, but you really really have to try a marshmallow.

Last post of the day, I swear. But I just had to share a capybara.

@Braden-Hallett at the end of the month we should calculate what percentage of work out of all of us was yours lols.

I'm unsure why but if we did that I would probably feel terrible

@Braden-Hallett your portfolio must be overloaded -and then you'd have to narrow it down like in the critiques 100 to 16.

More old webcomic doodles. For a long time I've tried to stay away from multiply layers (they always looked wrong) But I think I've developed my colour and value sense to the point where I can use them again.

@neschof
Really neat! What kind of lizard is that on your stand? The armament on the tail is impressive!
The eye on your croc is amazing -
@SunnySommerset he's a spiny tailed monitor lizard. He was lovely and kept wandering over to see what we were doing we also drew a python called Colin.
I wrote up the day in a blog post if you want to see more photos / drawings:

Iโm working on one of the vehicle design assignments where you have to draw four vehicles for a cartoon character, and I decided to use my all-time favorite cartoon character, Wile E. Coyote. But then I couldnโt draw the vehicles without having drawn him first. Itโs been along time since Iโve drawn anything just for fun that didnโt work for my goal of being a childrenโs book illustrator, it was nice.
