    • RE: March Prompt "Book Cover"

      Hey everybody,
I did The Knight in Rusty Armor by Robert Fisher. Below the piece.

      TheKnight.jpg

I read the book many years ago; but here is the best book summary I found.

      http://www.jfdperfsolutions.com/modules/news/personal_improvement-book_summary~3A_~26quot~3Bthe_knight_in_rusty_armor~26quot~3B_by_robert_fisher.html

The story is great and I highly recommend it. It is the story about a person finding the real values of family and facing hard challenges.

      Thank you and good luck,
      Jose

      Hi everybody!
Here is my friend Gobble. If you want to see the "Start to Finish" process, I documented it here. The SVS community gave me some great feedback that helped me improve the piece greatly.

Good luck to all participants. Happy holidays and stay safe out there.

I remember when I used the pen brush the first time, I was hooked! Love this month challenge.
Here is my submission. it took a lot of me to get Ellie's design down, the turning point for this piece was when I added the magnifying glass.

    • RE: Our SVS Virtual Studio SEPTEMBER šŸŽØ 2020

During the LightExpo event during the weekend, I had my portfolio reviewed by Pattrick O'keefe. He was the art director at Sony Animation during the Spiderman into the Spiderverse production. It got me thinking a lot about my art and where I want to go from here. I quickly sat down and painted while thinking about the positive and negative feedback I received, this is what came out...

      SVS-post.jpg

SVS classes have definitely help me improve but having a full-time job and other responsibilities sure make it extra hard to reach those magical 10,000 hours to master illustration.

A very personal piece for the #slowvember challenge. I did a memory from my childhood, I remember the toys, the computer, the beer can collection and even the dinosaur poster I broke while playing baseball. I’m very happy with how it turned out!

I like when the challenge has some parameters. I'm happy with the final product.

Thank you so much @miranda-hoover I agree with you. It looks so much better now.

I finished Gobble! I haven't done character design in almost a year. My art is currently going through a lot of changes, the struggle between graphic design and visual development is taxing. But, if you want to see what that mess looks like, check out my Instagram. Thank you for being part of the journey.

I'm almost done with it, I think. I'm going to rest on it for a day and then go back to it with fresh eyes.
Usually, If I have the time and the deadline is far I will take 1-2 days off from working on the piece. I highly recommend it, it has helped me a lot.

@Nyrryl-Cadiz I really like the moon shape and the colors on the number 3.

      You said:
"I have so much personal projects in the back burner. I need to stop making up new ones and finish my old ones. šŸ˜‚"
This is my struggle every day... glad I am not the only one.

    • RE: Yeti: From Start to Finish

It took me a while to find the "sitting down" position. I'll be lying if I say that I've done a character like this at this intensity before Gobble.

@DaveLeekArt I started to think about the scale of the character too. That thing he is holding is an iPad so maybe he is about 10 feet tall.

Thank you everybody for the feedback! I had a few hours to play today and I moved ahead with the running pose. At this point, I have no idea how I'm gonna be able to make this guy sit down. I was thinking of kneeling down (monk pose?)

Also, a name for our friend here... Gobble?

I had a happy accident while painting over the fur and an idea came to leave some of the dark as rocks. Maybe the rocks grow over time to crystals and then... and ONLY then, you become a real Yeti lol.

I also lowered the saturation of the colors, it was too much for my taste. Thank you all for the feedback, I'm moving on to the view from the back.

      See you in a bit
