Hi All! I'm new to this page, so I'm still figuring things out lol. Anyway, I just wanted to ask for some critique on a new pet portrait I am working on. It is one of my first cat portraits in colour, so it is not the greatest, but I am still experimenting. Let me know what you think!

It's lovely! I like how you've captured the fur! Fur isn't easy to do. Very nice!
I wonder what would happen if you made the darks a bit darker? That might help suggest a source of light a bit more to accompany the lovely highlights you've got going on around the cat's outer fur edge.
You obviously have the capacity to see detail and recreate it. That's hard for some folks! Well done!!

Looking good! More contrast as shown in the photo would really help things pop. Especially concentrate on the darkness of the cats shoulder/chest area. Its not reading as fur right now to me. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Looks great so far. The fur looks so soft and wispy.
I do pet portraits too and tend to go a little warmer in certain areas ( general rule) ie nose, corners of eyes, sometimes around the mouth and inside of the ears, that brings the feeling of life ( I think those areas tend to be a little warmer looking due to blood flow and thinner membranes and less fur). Easy to overdo it but as long as they're not more cool is probably the main thing!
You might be able to darken and/or neutralize the shadow areas in the eyeball to make the lighter lit areas pop more. I also agree with above comments.
Anyhow those are super nit picky comments as it's really looking great. The owner will be so happy!
