Brush pen with no cap

AAAAARRRGGG! Today I bought two brush pens and when I got home, I realized the top of one of them must have come off and fallen somewhere. I checked everywhere and checked the bag over and over. The store I bought them is in an area of town where I rarely go so..... there’s $10 I’ll never need again.

Anyone know of a way I can make my own cap? Maybe keep the pen in a zip lock bag when not in use?

@danielerossi if it was me I'd probably put a small plastic bag over it and then secure it with an elastic. Then potentially maybe another plastic bag too. That's the only thing I can think of at the moment!

I was thinking of using an elastic band as well. Then I had the idea of making use of the 3D printer at my local library! Though not sure if they charge. Would be odd to pay all that money for something that is only $10

I have a similar waterbrush and most fineliner caps seem to be a pretty good fit, you dont happen to have any dried up micron pens do you?

You can also rough fit another cap similar to what @StudioLooong is doing - make sure the base makes contact where it should, and then run a small bead of silicone caulk on the bottom of the rim (while it's off of the pen). That'll give it a tiny bit of "grab" when you press it closed and should keep it pretty airtight.

@danielerossi personally i keep a lot of materials at home just laying there, like brushes, i have some brush pens of several different brands i use for inkwashes that are just laying there since i take the ipad around all the time, for instance, i work traditional mainly mainly at home, but if you often take your materials to places it would be recommended to get some cap yes, it's really bad to get a good quality brush ruined, ie. a Series 7 or other Kolinsky which are expensive.

@StudioLooong Great idea! I have lots of pens lying around that are sure to be dry. I’ll have a look.

@StudioLooong The caps on those brush markers are crud. They fall off so easy. I lost mine as well, so I will definitely use the micron caps as I have many dead ones laying around. Thanks for the tip.

@danielerossi FORMcard is pretty good for stuff like this or a bit of Sugru and a cap off an old pen.

You can take the cover of an unused pen to replace it. I've had the same problem you had when I bought it from a local store
