Painting colour and light 2.0 Group run through week one!

If anyone hasn't been to this resource yet, it is friggin' amazing. I particularly like looking at the Laika movies (box trolls, coraline, etc) since they're physical models lit in real life (so staged, but still real light for the most part I think)
-
@Coley Oh I missed this! Congratulations!
-
@BichonBistro thanks
-
Ok, I've pinned my photos that don't have people in them and now I'm going to take a look at all your lovely boards and join the repin party!

And I'm getting distracted with those photos all the time. I havn't seen them for ages.
Yes, a big trip down memory lane!
-
Added a ton of new images and also specifically a lot lot of shadow and reflected light on both men and women for reference.
-
@Braden-Hallett very cool resource. Wow
-
@xin-li I know, right!?
-
Just wanted to say that I went ahead and ran through the pre-reqs that Will suggests and they were both awesome. Took about 1.5 hours each and was definitely worth it. I took color and value classes in school but it had been awhile, and some of the things they talked about I a fairly sure I never learned. I'm going to get started on this one now!
-
@carlianne haven't had time to look at this yet--which courses did you run through first that Will recommended?
-
Iβd like to join in too if thatβs ok. It looks like youβre all getting so much more out of it working together.
-
@peteolczyk and and all are welcome at all times Get that reference gathered! Next week we get to start some painting

I just watched them too. It's "light and shadow" and "the magic of color". Will mentions them in the intro to painting colour and light 2.0
As @carlianne found, I knew a lot of the stuff already but it was good to get a refresher and there were a couple of points that were new to me.

Hello there! I have to say goodbye for now ... I thought, I'd manage to take part in the run-through, but I'm already running through the rest of my life without managing (many birthdays in december, and guess what - christmas!); and from tomorrow on a lot of travelling. I'll either try to catch up when I'm back after Christmas, or I just relax a bit and watch what you guys were accomplishing. Have a good time and see you soon!

This really is such a good tutorial package. Will Terry is so clear and thorough.
-
I watched this video a couple of weeks ago and forgot about it. I just saw it on one of my tabs that was still open and thought it would be a great additional resource to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx-TwkMtPwc
I found I could apply these right away to painting so it came in handy.

Week two thread is here!

ses did you run through first that Will recommended?
It was magic of color, and Light and Shadow

I'm behind schedule, but here is my reference! I did the extra credit too, so feel free to repin from me if you'd like!

I'm working on catching up! Got that long video watched. Gotta get some reference now. Just realized I already watched some of week two videos in week one. You could say I didn't pay enough attention in class to assigned work. But I'd say I'm a keener getting stuff done in advance before it's even assigned! HA
