I earned a BFA at university, but I could never relate to the "fine art" mentality AT ALL. Luckily I took a concentration in graphic design and those classes were much more aligned with my strengths. I worked in graphic design for eleven years. Now I'm going to study my desire from childhood, illustration, what was often called back then "commercial art." I'm very impressed with the instruction here and the level of work you all are showing.
I'm a fan of all kaiju ... really sorry to have missed the Godzilla challenge! Maybe I'll do it anyway.

Welcome. I was the opposite in school many years ago. I studied graphics for at least a year after all the foundational stuff. I switched from fine art/illustration to graphics. I should have stuck with illustration but I ended up never finishing anyway. Eventually I did get an AA in art just so I could feel that I had finished a degree of some kind I look forward to seeing what you come up with too!

Hi Buffie! I'm in Colorado too. I went to the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design for illustration. I also couldn't get behind the fine art mentality and illustration seemed more useful.

I used to live in western CO. It was such a beautiful area and I loved the low humidity (except in winter...eek!)
