“Flowers” and images in memory of Richard Cartwright

Several people have made suggestions of doing paintings in the memory of Richard Cartwright, and I had suggested another possibility was doing drawings or paintings of flowers (using that prompt as creatively as you would like) which we could send physically or virtually to his family. I don’t know if there is still interest in doing that but I thought I would start this thread and see what happens.

I’ll volunteer to figure out how to send them though depending on the quantity, I might have to do it virtually since he lived in Canada and I’m in the US.

Here is mine. It’s a study in pen and wash that I did recently which I wish I had more time to improve but I’d rather send it as is than hope to improve on it and then never end up sending anything.

I am new here, but I just read the topics on the passing of Richard Cartwright and viewed some of his amazing art. You can count on me to participate!

I will send/post any pictures and the condolences from this and the previous thread ("Sad News") to the Funeral Parlor on Monday, so it you would like to contribute a picture, please post it by Monday. (I haven't decided yet whether I will try to physically send prints of the images or post them virtually. It will partly depend on what people post here.)

If you would like to contribute but can't get it done by Monday, let me know in this thread when you think you might have it done.

If no one is able to contribute, I will just send the one I did on behalf of the forum, though I know there are many better artists than I am here!

I only briefly knew Richard on SVS. Sad to lose a member of the SVS community. Glad I got to see his Art. I made a magnetic memorial lino cut. But ran out of R's so had to improvise with the letters.

Thanks for doing this! I'm pretty new, but had already noticed his work. I actually went looking for the final version of the Love sketch with the woman at the grave. A bit shocking to realize that was his WIP.

This was done traditionally so if you end up sending physical media let me know and I'll send the original to you first.

@SketchyArtish I am going to play around with the best way to send these on Monday and hopefully won’t need anything more than what people have posted. I’m going to try to keep it simple but want to retain the quality of everyone’s work. It is all so lovely.
