Long Time Lurker, First Time Poster... Hello!

Hey there, it's lovely to e-meet you all! I just thought I would say a quick hello and introduce myself. My name is Emilie, and I am just getting back into art/illustration after about cough 8 years cough of being out of the game.
About a month ago, I stumbled upon the Three Point Perspective podcast, listened to the "Am I Too Old to Get Started?" episode, and was inspired to take the leap back into creating.
At this point, I am just trying to get my creative muscles back in shape, drawing every day and learning as much as humanly possible about how to craft an intriguing image. Of course, since I would consider myself a super newbie, I am open to any and all critiques, and plan to take advantage of the collective knowledge of you lovely people! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all as we all grow together!

@sarahluann Thank you! I'm digging the blue hair too. It was the first time I'd done anything that wasn't a "natural" hair color, so it was a fun to play with. It would be so cool to have it myself, but I don't think I could handle the maintenance haha

Welcome! I'm also new here and came because of the podcast, it's so awesome! First off I would say you nailed the expression, the emotional weight in this piece is quite on point. You could use Some highlights though, particularly some in the eyes and the teeth. These areas are wet and the light reflects more off of them, it helps give differentiation in the textures - but most of all it would brighten her expression even more and give it that extra pop.
