PAINTING SECRETS CLASS IS LIVE (for you guys only!)
-
Hey guys, I have been building away at my new beginning digital painting class. It's called "Painting Secrets 1" and is an intro level photoshop painting class. It's a 10 week interactive class and I'll be giving you weekly feedback on your work.
This class is not live on our website yet because I'm still adding content to it and building the class, but we are rolling it out for you guys early because there is only 15 spots in class and we are thinking it will fill up pretty quick.
Check it out here: https://courses.svslearn.com/courses/paintingsecrets
Let me know if you have any questions! : )
cheers,

Hi Lee,
The first FAQ answer seems to be cut short, mid-sentence. It says, "You will upload" and ends.
It sounds like the class lessons are released weekly, watched on your own schedule; and all interaction is asynchronous via 1-on-1 video critiques. Correct?
Thanks.

@riftweaver Thanks! I'm still adding to the landing page, so you will see some edits there as we prepare for launching the class to the general public. You are correct about how the class will work. You will watch videos, then upload homework and I will give you video feedback and critiques. We have used this format for the other interactive classes and it works really well!

@lee-white This looks like it will be a great class Lee! I am hoping that the new SVS classes will be released for your subscribers eventually - do you know if this class will be?
-
@kevin-longueil The landing page says: This class will become available to subscribers in Fall 2019.
-
@riftweaver Thanks! i missed that
-
@kevin-longueil glad to help

Thanks to those of you who signed up! I've added another video on the landing page that talks about what we are going to study over the course of the term. We will be opening the class to the public on Friday. So sign up now if you want a seat. : )
Let me know if you have any questions at all.
Cheers,

@lee-white Hi Lee, have some questions, hope you can help, 'cause I'm
watching the preview over and over again and trying to decide for me to sign up or not... So- The landing page shows somewhat like 85 minutes - is that the actual time of all videos from this class?
- Is it enough to have Photoshop Elements to participate?
- Please give your recommendations regarding Cintiq or tablet needed (just OK for the course's purposes).
Also, can you please tell us about "Turbocharging creativity" class - will the recording be available to subscribers and when?
Thanks in advance, hope this will help others as well!

Looks like what I would like but I can't afford it. Maybe in a years time I will openly welcome a live class environment (once again like in school).

@lee-white Hi Lee, have some questions, hope you can help, 'cause I'm
watching the preview over and over again and trying to decide for me to sign up or not... SoI’m not Lee but I can answer some of these. Hopefully nobody minds.
- The landing page shows somewhat like 85 minutes - is that the actual time of all videos from this class?
That is the time of the current videos that are available, which are “pre-class” material on the basics of the Photoshop interface for those who are new to it. New videos will be added for each week’s lessons. So no, 85 minutes is not the entire class.
- Is it enough to have Photoshop Elements to participate?
Lee has said the material will transfer to other software although he is only helping with Photoshop in class. Do you have brushes available in Elements? If so I think you’d be okay. I expect to use my iPad apps for convenience. (And I’m using PS CS6, not CC.)
- Please give your recommendations regarding Cintiq or tablet needed (just OK for the course's purposes).
Lee said some sort of tablet (not necessarily a Cintiq) is absolutely required, since we’ll be making use of painting and things like pressure sensitive brush strokes. For myself, with PS I’ll be using an Intuos. Or with my ipad, the Apple pencil. For the Cintiq specifically you’ll have to ask Lee.
Hope that helps.

@riftweaver is correct on all accounts. If there was only 85 minutes of instruction in a 10 week class something would be very wrong. That total is what has been uploaded to watch before week 1 even starts. THere will be a LOT of hours in this class. With recorded crits, etc. adding to that number too.
Any tablet or Cintiq will do as long as it has pressure sensitivity. Even an ipad pro with Astropad app installed can work. I'm actually filming a few of the less intensive lectures using that to try it out. Not bad for loose work. I like the cintiq for real work though.
Let me know if you have any more questions. : )

@riftweaver Thanks, that helped a lot!

@lee-white OK, everything mentioned sounds great, can't wait to start)

Aww man! I literally JUST purchased a class from CGMA starting in october... I don't think I could do both at the same time
@Lee-White Hello! I haven't taken any SVS classes yet, so I don't really know how they work. I'm wondering if this class will be available again in the future?
Thank you!
-
@lady-chamomile I will be running it again. Probably in the spring. THen this content will become available for subscribers in fall of next year, but that version wont include feedback from me.
-
@lee-white Thank you! I'll keep it on my radar. I hope you have a great time teaching this class. It looks like fun!
