Music wip
-
Hey so I have gone for the first emotion that popped into my head haha. My neighbours at my old place use to like blasting music out late into the early morning which gave me the idea of this chap. Does it look finished to you, I am trying not to over work it? Thanks for checking this out

Nice work!
The very blocky style makes me think it's a study more than finished, but I suppose it depends on what kind of look you're going for.
My instinct would be to add detail to a couple of the focal points (like the eyes) but if you're trying to not in any way overwork it, then maybe not.

Certainly points for originality! I think the idea is great. It does seem pixelated. Is that on purpose?

@jason-bowen hi, jason. Your paint work and lighting is amazing. However, iβm not getting the idea of βmusicβ from the piece. Perhaps show the neighbors with their blasted music or perhaps note in the air or perhaps our character is slightly tilted because of the loud volume of the music. I hope this helps though.

I really like the lighting. Maybe do a few more touches with that. Maybe. He is certianly mad at someone who he doesnβt want to hear. Yikes! I feel totally awkward. Emotion of the painting- check!

thanks for the comments! I have a few more paintings that go after this now so I have some thinking to do. I will tighten it up a bit though definitely.

I like the blue pyjamas and the orange hair together I like the idea and the mice are great. To me the window is too high contrast, I understand why it is there and I like the rim lighting on the characters but possibly just cast down some light on objects and let people's minds fill in the rest. Also the characters arm and the railing ae creating a sort of tangent when they cross because the light on the arms and the railing is the same value

I actually liked the concept of the first image. I feel like it's more original than the dancing image. "Story is King" Let the narrative direct your image. If you keep playing with the idea of someone trying to sleep while neighbors are playing music I think you may find something that works really well. For instance the scene could be the neighbor answering the door with giant speakers in the back ground as your character in his pajamas stands in the darkness looking tired and angry. Or you could simply add "THUMP THUMPTHUMP THUMP THUMPTHUMP THUMP" sound effects to the image you have and it would communicate well enough. but those are just my thoughts keep up the good work.

I like the idea and rough style of the first one and the light in the second one. If you could incorporate the lighted window in the first one, maybe with the noisemakers in silhouette there, that may be cool. If you are going to go with the second, then I think adding more glowy light to the surroundings, maybe on the ground around their feet and legs, will take the harshness off the window, while still keeping it dark nightime. Just some thoughts, I'm no expert. =)x

@jason-bowen I like the 1st one best too, there's something really striking about it. At the moment I'm reading he's tired and furious about some kind of noise. Maybe to push the music angle a bit more you could have some sound waves or ripples or musical notes in the background about to hit him in the head, really loose nothing too prominent but just enough to add a little music to the story?
Painting-wise I'd like to see a little bit more rendering on the features of the face just to give that little bit more impact to his emotion.
Great lighting by the way

Thanks for the comments a five year old told me the first one was scary so I'm going for something more fun. I will add more lighting to the floor and walls etc to try and balance things out. Hopefully I can do a bit more before the closing date.

I'm moving forward with this painting. Its the end of the story I created from the other one. I just need to add some set decorations and work a little on the mice then I am going to enter i think

I decided to work more on this one. Great for more portfolio and really hits the mood I think.
