Recent Piece

Hey guys, I hope you are enjoying your holidays. Just wanted to share one of my recent piece, nothing fancy, but I like how the candy turned out. Do you think it looks like spun candy or its just me?
Feedback welcome.

The style is really charming and the color and light in this piece is beautiful...but I have to admit that my first thought was to the situation of the book "The story of the mole who knew it was none of its business" (you can google it up if you do not know it). Maybe it is just my reaction because I have read that book to my kids a zillion times...but probably very many people have, given that it was a huge bestseller (and kids, not surprisingly, love it). Maybe you could give the candy a different shape?

@Nazuba I like your piece for sure - i have to agree with Simona - it is the first thing that came to mind - i picture spun sugar as having a heavier top or center with directional swirling from top to bottom - maybe taper the bottom a tiny bit and remove the taper at the top? Also the color could be blue or very pink wich would change first impressions too - look forward to your next piece

LOL!! Way to go guys! talk about subtle hints to say I drew poop HAHAHA, my sister was pretty straight forward about it. Fact is, if you are zoomed up working on a piece for long, you loose the sight.
So I tried again today but honestly I liked the rendering of the poop one better. Might have to work on this version with fresh eyes.
The reason I did not go with normal cotton candy shape is because the candy character is meant to look dynamic, menacing a bit clingy and crazy(which is why I made it a fusion between spun candy and cotton candy). Ended up making a custom brush to achieve the effect on top of a photo texture. I still think it could be better since it lost its light... but for today I lost my sight >_<So the caption of this piece is: If you don't like koala, you should know candy. THEY are the most terrible terrible.
I want to do a series where kids fight their inner demons (candies) who don't leave their head. It's not like it's their fault they want candy so much!

@Nazuba I like the first one. They both work, but the "poop" shaped candy is funnier and more dynamic I think. ️ My first thought was not "poop" but I avoid the poo emoticon so...

@Pamela-Fraley I think so too. While figring out how to render cotton candy, I lost its shine. I'll go back and work on it some more and see if I can get this to look OK.
Thank you so much for all your comments !!

@Nazuba Did you manage to resolve the 'poop' issue? Lol

@RobinSlee Thanks so much for checking in! My poor posture has sort of driven me away from digital for a while...
Yes I did do another version, but honestly I like the rendering of the poop one better. Here it is:

Hey the colors and brushwork works so well together with how this kid might feel about candy and its world. haha. Love it. However the "poop" issue is still there I think - and if it's not too inconvenient I would actually go back and reconsider changing the form of the cotton candy. Or to make it even more obvious what it is by showing it wrapped in a plastic box (could for example work well, if the face of the candy would be squeezed because it sits so tight in the packaging)... this is what I mean: (1 -packaged cotton candy) https://www.google.de/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjMs6HT8cHTAhUiOpoKHZ-oCswQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F3049-Pre-Packaged-Cotton-Candy-Candee-Fluff-%2F200037723387&psig=AFQjCNGBQ3IFkG3f0YlXfLrg_Gmcvhr19Q&ust=1493288056566241 (2 - squeezed window face) https://www.google.de/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiwhd3v8cHTAhXpIJoKHZ11CjUQjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fjamesrye%2F425429326&psig=AFQjCNGRPN8pBmeG61m2WE6ibnheTR0NCQ&ust=1493288103045345
