Your Creative Work Space

Looks awesome Spencer! I like the idea of hanging your practice work. I have a favorite quote too, I write it in all my sketch books and have it hanging in a few other places - The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without the work by Emile Zola - reminds me to draw every day

I have a spare bedroom in my house that is my home office where I do all of my digital illustration and design work. (I also have a space in my unfinished basement that I use for anything else creative I do that might be a bit messier like painting etc.
You can easily tell I am a huge Disney fan (always have been) and I like having all of the different art/figures/toys etc around me for inspiration not just with art but life in general.
-
And because you have now seen the actual photos - this illustration I had done a few years ago of myself in my workspace for use on my website etc will now make sense as well.
-
Lovely space you have there Rich! I'm jealous you have a whole room! I thought about taking over one of the bedrooms, instead of having stuff jammed into corners of the living room, but then i would never see anyone else lol
-
@Rich-Green thats really a cool piece of art! like it, but i miss the coffee.
-
Welll... my workspace is just a mess I always put it in order from time to time and while saying to myself "from now on, it will be like this! I will not allow to turn in to mess again!" ...and after 3 days...
You could play "find waldo" with my desk But to make it easier... I use intuos 3 for digital work, I almost bought a Cintiq, but I realized I dont really mind the disconnection... I use polychromatic colored pencils for sketching... and oils and pastels when I want to do something bigger on my easel. I am big Mignola fan, hence the Hellboy. Miniature statues are serious danger for my wallet ...and yeah... I wouldnt survive without ice cream these scorching days..

This is the setup I built in our new place. I wanted a workspace that felt like it was tucked into the wall so added cupboards either side. I recycled the weathered old fence palings when we re-did the fence.
-
@Grant-Brown Awesome. What an amazing space.
-
@Rich-Green dude, your work space is sick. wow!
-
I wish I had a cintiq companion.
-
@Peter-Jarvis Hey thanks so much for the compliment Peter!
-
Cheers Peter

My work space is just in a tiny corner of my bedroom. So it's a perfect location for when I want to take an afternoon nap ... or two.
-
wow I love every ones work space especially @Rowan Ferguson s, that is awesome
here is my little "studio"
-
@Kimberli-Johnson Loving your set up Kimberli. I'm also loving your illustrations. Beautiful.
-
Here's my new backyard studio! I'm remodeling the main house too. I'm about 85% finished.
-
Okay what is the deal. I see all these immaculate spaces. Where are all the messy artists. You know the ones with paint spray on the walls, ink and oil spills, and books everywhere? That is what my space looks like right now although we are soon moving into our new home with a dedicated studio space. @Lee-White what a beautiful craftsman home you have.
-
So cool to see where everyone works! I LOVE your back yard spot @Lee-White .
Over the years I've been set up in the garage, at the kitchen table, in a leaky and flood prone basement, and my bedroom. It's amazing what a project and a set of headphones can do to keep you in the zone, despite your work space's shortcomings.
Here's where I drew my two Missile Mouse graphic novels. It was the only spot in our tiny house that I could fit a drawing desk, archives, and books. I used a cardboard box for book ends, haha. Oh, and my computer is upstairs in the bedroom.
And here's my spot now. I ran out of book shelf space, so I have books organized on the floor. If I ever get a week off between projects I'll build out a better shelf system.
-
@Jake-Parker ha, Hellboy everywhere Wasnt that garage spot kind of dark, though?
-
Thanks jake! Here's what it looked like when I bought the house. My current studio was a nasty old shed with a barn style roofline. The house looked terrible too.
