Adding local tone, shadows, and light was so fun to do in this assignment! I’ve learned so much from Lee White’s class. Feel free to critique and send feedback 🙂

            Hi @MiaNova,

I am also doing the same class at the moment, but look to be a few steps behind you so am quite family with these images by now.

When I first looked at the images I had to do a double take as I thought they were just the provided images on the course. So kudos on that as I think the overall effect is really good and my untrained eye couldn’t tell the difference. The only thing that gave it away was the 2nd ball as this looks like it is slightly floating above the ground in relation to the shadow.

            Hope this helps!

Not sure if that’s part of the course or not, but usually, you will use contact shadows to indicate that things are close to each other.

This is why your 2nd ball looks like it is floating. Usually you will have a darker shadow where the floor and ball are close to each other. In your case, you have slightly erased the shadow, which leads to the opposite effect.

@Geoffrey-Mégardon Yep! you are right. It's in the course. The contact shadow should be almost black where the ball touches down, then dissipates pretty quick to the normal shadow tone.

@Lee-White @Geoffrey-Mégardon @Nicholas-Kirkman Thank you guys sm this was really helpful! I redrew the shadow for the 2nd ball multiple times and I kept noticing something was off on it lol
