Storm reworked
-
I was super grateful to be amongst the top 16 last month, and I’ve finally had a chance to take the advice/critique offered by @Jake-Parker and @Will-Terry to improve on my little mouse.
I would love to hear thoughts on the before and afters.!
Before
After
-
@AngelinaKizz The after picture is definitely better!
-
@Kim-Rosenlof thanks Kim! I’m much happier with the second. I can definitely employ the critique in the next pieces as well.
-
@AngelinaKizz In the second one the mouse seems more engaged in the activity with the change in expression, cropping and enhanced lighting. It seems more like the mouse is enjoying the rainy day as opposed to the first one where the mouse seems to be lazily playing. Also, there is more of a possibility of friendship between the mouse and firefly in the second one.
Would you be willing to share your story for the piece?

@Stephanie-H
Thankyou!
I wish i could say there was a whole lot of thought that went into the story for this illustration. It was a quickie that id done up in under 2 hours. I just had this idea to create an illustration of finding peace in a storm, as i love getting cozy and listening to the music of the rain and thunder. -
@AngelinaKizz I think your characters found some peace in and refuge from the storm for sure
-
@AngelinaKizz Huge improvement! Looks awesome!
-
Love the updates!

@Stephanie-H @Johanna-Kim @ajillustrates thanks so much! I’m so grateful to have gotten some critique. I want so badly to grow as an illustrator and felt like I wasn’t moving forward even though I was following the classes, and sketching daily. They’re few words of advice definitely was a huge aha moment, and I’ll employ it going forward.
-
@AngelinaKizz the characters are definitely more engaged with each other now. It's like you've captured a nice moment between them.
-
@jenn thanks!
-
@AngelinaKizz its much better. I love the texture you gave the cork, and the extra space around your main character is perfect, well done!

@Asyas_illos thanks Asyas!
