NEED FEED BACK! INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS (FINALLY)
Hey guys, I have been tasked with building out some of the interactive components of our curriculum. So I wanted to ask for some feedback if you don't mind. The thing that we are contemplating is running 2 day "workshops" for the individual classes in the curriculum.
For example: "2 day Light and Shadow workshop". There I would go over some additional samples of light and shadow elaborating on what is in the class. Then you could submit your work and I would do some lecture and draw over on how to fix it. That would be recorded content so you could watch it at your convenience. Then the next week there would be 2 zoom sessions (one in the morning and one in the evening so it works for different time zones). In the zoom session you could ask questions or show your work, etc.
Cost would be around $250. We would offer workshops for all the classes in the foundation. Let me know what you think. Love to hear any and all ideas. : )

@Lee-White I love the idea of getting feedback. Is there a limit on attendees? Would everyone get feedback or just a random selection?

That's an awesome idea. But would the cost cover all the classes or be individual-based?
@tomparsonsart Everyone would get individual feedback and instruction.
@jthomas The $250 would be per class. You would have an individual instructor giving you feedback and doing drawovers, etc. it would probably be around 5-8 hours of instruction and crits. etc. But, you bring up a good point, maybe we could offer a discount if you wanted a group of them, etc.

I think this sounds great. I would go just for the feedback.

I'm a newer fella to it all but I'd love to be able to participate in something of the sort. Individual feedback seems like it will be the main selling point. On top of this, the benefit of seeing mistakes corrected on others' works sounds immensely helpful. Aside from individual feedback, another thing I'd love to see from a course like this is at least one assignment of sorts tailored to pushing people off of their comfort zone and onto the floor where they can writhe in uncertainty and grow! I think this would add more value to artists who feel they have a solid understanding of the subject matter.
Thank you always for the intentional extra efforts you make Lee!

Seems a very interesting way of having a more dynamic learning. I like the online learning format, but there are those moments where you really miss having that feedback from a teacher.
@Lee-White This sounds pretty cool. How often would the workshops be offered? Monthly for each foundation class seems like it would add a ton of work on SVS's side. If it were less frequent, by the time you had a workshop pertaining to the class I need feedback on my focus would likely be onto another topic/class. Because of the self paced nature of the foundation classes I wonder if that would be an issue.
One idea might be to offer something like mini tutor type sessions. A student could submit their question along with any pertinent image they are working on. Then have a 20-30 minute virtual zoom appointment created. This might allow for more timely help.
Cool Thanks for the feedback guys. We will be making announcements soon about what we are going to do! : )

Sounds great @Lee-White; however, I’m more of an asynchronous type of adult learner since I work crazy hours and have to squeeze in learning at odd times.
Paid critiques/feedback on assignments, on the other hand, would be pretty cool if affordable.

While a critique on the homework for classes would be great, it would not be as useful as a critique on a full illustration or character design. I cold see spending $250 a couple times a year on pieces that really matter but it would not be affordable for every homework piece. A critique on a couple illustrations and the book dummy from the CBPro course would be worth it and amazing.
