Digital Sketching 2 - Movie Scenes
-
To keep practicing digital sketching, character design and to boost my social media I'm trying out drawing characters from movies that I like. I want to fit it to my style as much as I can without losing the likeness of the characters. This is a WIP but can anyone guess the movie?
-
@Gary-Wilkinson No sorry. But I am curious. I also may not be any good at guessing.
-
@Heather-Boyd Stand by me
-
Love your characters expressions and the pencil quality as well as value range. Looking goooood!
-
@Gary-Wilkinson I've never heard or seen that movie. Sorry, lols. But thanks.

Something a little different. I've got a bunch of Potter wannabe kid sketches to paint up when I have the time, but took a little detour and tried the sketch style on one of them. I've added in a little color to make the scene a bit more interesting too. I've wondered whether to add some tone to the background or whether to keep it white. Any thoughts?

I donโt think that I would change a thing. I love the potter picture - itโs so good!
-
I like how it is now. A big fan of your work
-
Another Potter one, this one is based on Dobby.
-
@Gary-Wilkinson I havenโt seen stand by me, I probably should. I think itโs considered a classic. Your sketches are great. I love the look of a good clean pencil sketch. Can I ask what brush you used?
-
@Pamela-Fraley I still surprised that there are people who dont know Stand by Me
The brush I use is a custom brush. It's like a hard crayon type brush with a texture on
-
Stand By Me is a wonderful movie. Itโs based off a short story (I believe) by Stephen King. It has some great actors in it as well. Narrated by Richard Dreyfus if I remember correctly.

A third one for the Harry Potter series. I actually did this one a little while ago in color, but wanted to see how I could translate it into a sketching style. I still prefer the color one, but it was a nice exercise.
