Our SVS Virtual Studio June 2021ππ

Well, I got nothing fancy to show, but wanted to be a part of it, so, here goes...
I started the svs foundation curriculum 2 and a half months ago. I am in the 3rd course, Visualizing Drawing In Perspective, and taking some time on it since this was always my biggest difficulty in drawing. So basically, sketching different drawings in several perspectives (I do 2 to 3 pages like this for each. I have difficulty keeping the proportions between the sketches, but one thing I'm loving is that by drawing the objects several times helps me understand the object better as I go.
Still a long way to go, and will probably come to the forum for some help soon, but am definitely enjoying and evolving

Another 1920s character design...I think I might use this as inspiration for a little girl dressed up as a pilot

Have an awesome weekend everyone!
Cannot get tired of drawing Garfield.
He,asterix and songoku is the reason I am drawing to this day. -
@Georgios-Christopoulos awesome- I saw The Twelve Tasks of Asterix when I was a kid. Definitely had a big impact on me.
-
A mood sketch for a story I'm writing about a little girl that gets kidnapped by water monsters. -
Hey everyone! I haven't been able to participate in the forum for about a month or so now. I just made a huge move, finally settling in to the new house/area. I just wanted to update with a quick post showing my finished comic page! It was a lot of fun to draw this up
-
I drew this in my digital sketchbook tonight and my husband said, "You aren't going to post that on your thing are you?" "thing" equals Instagram in this scenario.
Me: Yes. Why?
Spouse: It's scary.
Me: It's just a hyena. And it's bad ass.
Spouse: but it's too scary for the kids.
Me: Honey. There are no children looking at my Instagram.
Spouse: What do you mean? You draw for kids all the time.
Me: Yes. Yes I do.
Spouse: I'm sorry.
Then I proceeded to show him my Colin bear killing butterflies and how many likes I received with that image compared to all of the "nice" things I've posted over the past few years. There is a pattern evolving. My images that portray chaos, meanness and mischief are getting more attention than the nice stuff. I'm not sure whether to role with it or mourn. -
These past few months have been really hard. Iβve been ill and in and out of the hospital and losing part of my vision in my right eye so I havenβt been doing much art work but tonight I really felt like I needed to get some out of my head so I worked on some more landscape stuff. Itβs not perfect but I am happy with it

Traditional inks and shades commission turned to digital art.
Tried a new simple technique on this one since the budget was a bit low and I really wanted to deliver.
Read the process and leave your opinion if you want in this thread!

@ambiirae This is really cool.
I hope you feel better soon. -
Here are some characters I've been working on for one of my picture book manuscripts. Trying so hard to make my digital style look less digital!
-
@ambiirae beautiful, majestic, and soothing. Hope it gave you some much-needed art therapy! And hope your health gets sorted soon and you can start feeling better. οΈ
-
@ellenseal14 really cute characters!
What program are you working in? This is just me, but I find that the brushes I use make all the difference (Iβm with you β I want my digital art to look as traditional as possible).
-
Followed Lee's 'loosening up in watercolour' class and made this. I drew a quick doodle and then painted it. I might work on it some more, but here's where it is after about an hour or so
-
More watercolour from tonight.
-
@kylebeaudette I love how this turned out! I really want to take that loosening up class too. I love Lee's work so much.
-
Hi! I took a sketchbook sketch to a colour finish for practise. There always feels like so much potential in a sketch. I like the black line so it was a good practise.
-
@ellenseal14 The only spider I've ever seen that I like lol - I'm terrified of them!
