APRIL CONTEST: Design A Fairy-Tale Inn
-
We got so many cool Fairy Tale Travelers for the March contest, we thought it would be fun to keep it going!
For April, Jake wants you to design an inn or tavern for our traveler to bed for the night. Our brave young traveler is weary from a long day trekking through the hinterlands and needs a safe place to rest. It just so happens that there is a village nearby…
For this challenge, we want JUST the building design, no background! Building should be on white, and at a 3/4 angle.
If you haven't already heard, we have a brand new website for Critique Arena! Since we are still fine-tuning it, it's up to you how you would like to submit for the April contest. (We'll probably switch to the Critique Arena website only for the May contest).
You can submit your final piece in this contest thread like usual, or you can submit through the Critique Arena website. We are accepting submissions either way!
Also, if you want to give it a go, try using the new template when you submit, we are testing it out. Follow the instructions in the file to insert your artwork.
As always, the contest is open to anyone. But the winners and runners up will only be selected from active SVS members.
Post only finished pieces in this thread. Post WIP projects in their own thread.
Be sure to put your name and forum name on the image somewhere (can be on a border if you like). Or, if you use the template, don't forget to add your name / handle on the bottom.
OK, good luck everyone, can't wait to see what you come up with!

I don't have any architecture in my folio, for a reason. Haha. Time to change that!
-
@CLCanadyArts Same
-
Are we allowed multiple submissions this round? Or is back to one entry only?
-
Critique arena website says multiple entries allowed
-
@Asyas_illos Yes! Multiple entries allowed
-
@Asyas_illos I believe there used to be a rule stated somewhere that said only one entry per round and it was engrained in everyone's mind. There was a lot of questioning of Lee when he mentioned he would be doing multiple entries per month during his 3/25 event.
It sounded like they changed the rules overall at some point and that rule went away. It just took him mentioning it off-hand for anyone to notice.
-
Is this purely exterior (no interior or "cut-away") ?
-
When does it need to be submitted by? Just by the end of the month?
-
@BenR by midnight at the end of the month
-
I have a question of continuity. How joined are we to the influence of our character designs for this month’s contest?
-
@Robert-Maine Per Jake: "OOOOH, if it’s a good cutaway they will get bonus points from me."
-
@jaepereira Not joined at all. For the Yeti contests of December-February, they said you were free to go in a completely different direction for each part. And if you missed March, you're not out of luck for the rest of the way.
-
@Kevintreaccar cool thanks for letting me know.
-
@CLCanadyArts Good thing I have an architecture degree lol.
-
@Michael-Angelo-Go I can't wait to see how that influences your piece.
-
Cool! I already wanted to get some practice in architecture. Just a question though; what is generally meant by a ‘3/4th angle’ in building design? Just a three point perspective view?
-
This is so much out of my comfort zone lol. CAAANNONBAAALL!!!!
-
@jaepereira yep! What @Kevintreaccar said!
