Halloween Feast September WIP thread
-
Ok, here is my very rough sketch for this month's topic. Is storytelling working? Can you guys tell clearly what is happening? I'm still going to work out the food and costumes to look more "Halloweeny". Any critique or feedback always welcome.

@Gabby-Correia looking at it posted now, I see that my focal point is too centered. Maybe lengthen the canvas on the right side and add more background.
-
@Gabby-Correia uh-oh!
great concept
-
@Gabby-Correia this is fun! I love your idea! And yes, totally readable! Can't wait to see the final illustration!
-
@Gabby-Correia great idea! I like the contrast/lighting too.
-
@Gabby-Correia I really like the concept and the start is looking great. I agree with lengthening the canvas and adding more background. I wonder if it needs some more food elements to make it really feel like a feast?
-
this is really cute, surprised me and made me giggle. It does look a little cramped to me though, I would try to figure out a way to add some empty space, perhaps lengthening it on the bottom edge and letting the light/spiders flow down farther?
-
Great storytelling and concept. Love that you nailed the just-before-the-action moment!
-
@Gabby-Correia I love the concept/story! Haha, bugs would definitely put a damper on the feast. The lighting looks great!
Can't wait to see your progress on the piece.
-
@VeronicaMui thank you, I definitely see and agree that it needs more space.
@sarahelliott489 Thanksyeah, I am planning to add some more Halloween themed feast elements to the table, maybe some candles too.

@jennymadsan Hello Jenny,
While the artwork and photo that you posted here may be interesting, it is not good etiquette to share your art on someone elseโs WIP thread. Please start a new thread or I encourage you to post in the SVS Virtual Studio threads. There is one for every month to share your work with svs forum community. Thank you for your cooperation. -
@burvantill Thank you

Making some progress adding color. I am wondering if the warm/cool light is working and if it's too dark overall? I know warm light comes forward so I wonder if putting the focal point in contrasting blue light is effective or not.
Any suggestions are welcome -
@Gabby-Correia the colors are working great so far. I do agree that the shadows are a bit too dark.
-
I think I am close to calling this one done. Is it still too dark? Any last changes before I submit? Thank you all for your valuable input
