Inktober 2020 - Week 2

Day 5 and I am thinking about a blade ... of grass.

This is my post for Radio. My plan is to draw at lunch and when I can at home. I’m hoping to try new techniques and get out of my comfort zone. Having just registered I’ve only looked at two pages of posts. The stuff I’ve seen has been great. There’s a post in the week one thread where some hatching was used to make a convincing sweater. Would have loved to seen that yesterday. I would have used it in this drawing.

This is my picture for Blade. I had drawn a pretty bad Excalibur. I rethought the idea and went with something I would have made for my 5yr old self.

I'm not going to do every single day, so put together days 6 & 7 and came up with a couple of fancy rodents indulging in afternoon tea!

Day Five - Blade
I was going to draw a musketeer swinging a sword for this prompt, but then a family member reminded me that musketeers mostly used muskets in actual history! It eventually came to my mind to draw a firefighter with an axe blade.
So that's what I did.
I'm pretty pleased with how this came out, specifically the mask/visor. I wanted to have an off-page fire being reflected in it and I think it works rather well from farther away. That said, a family member pointed out that the character's right arm isn't drawn correctly in terms of anatomy, and I'd have to agree. It looks way too squished/shrunk!

Inktober day 5: BLADE
And my daughter's:

Blade.
Evander grabbed his blade and went after that snake before he had time to worry.
Had to add a little watercolor to my ink on this one.

@Jonathan-Malski it is not striking, this is still working. We assume this is an effect of the clothing.
