Most (all) of my art these days are inspired by random drawing prompts generated by my new app. You can see some of them here: https://www.instagram.com/ArtPromptsApp/
The first one was : “Draw a Turtle which is a Librarian with a pair of slippers in a Haunted House.”
Not sure what to call this piece. Either:
“Sorry it’s late. - I was at my funeral”
Which, according to my librarian wife, is the only valid excuse to return a book late.Or maybe I should simply call it:
“The late King George returns...”
What do you think?
The next one was inspired by the prompt:
“Draw an ostrich that is taking a bath”After some research for reference photos, I came across the iconic scene from Pretty Woman - and I just knew I had to paint this .....
You can see a bit of my process for this painting on instagram:

@AustinShurtliff thank you

@Coley thats so cool! I think the thing that I have missed the most since moving to the US is the lack of green and trees in the areas I have lived in. I've heard Newfoundland is a beautiful place too.
-
@KajsaH love the first submission reminds me of another work I have seen.
-
@AustinShurtliff soooo many trees here! I had a hard time when I lived in Halifax and that’s not a big city, I used to hug trees in the park lol. Now I live right on the edge of wilderness so I walk across my driveway and up into the wilderness every day . We’re pretty lucky pandemic wise here too, so far, just got to no cases in the province tho we’ll see what happens in the fall. Sure is nice for now. Have a good day, fellow Canadian

@AustinShurtliff where did you move to if you dont mind me asking
-
@BreannaB thanks for posting! I really like the texture you use in the vegetation and your character's expressions.
-
@ArtofAleksey that is a complicated question
When I first moved to the United States I was in Idaho, but after finishing my bachelors degree my wife and I have moved multiple times for work and additional schooling. Currently we are in Lubbock Texas while I complete my PhD at Texas Tech in Media and Communication.
-
@chrisaakins I have to agree with @KathrynAdebayo, this is a really great piece!
-
@AustinShurtliff oh nooo texas? (Only slightly kidding).
Are you settling in there?
