@Nyrryl-Cadiz
I really like this composition! And I especially like the way you're able to express age without breaking style. It's such an important skill, one that I definitely need to work on, so it really shows how much work you put into your craft. Can't wait to see how you color it! -
@Alicja-W thanks!

Hi, everyone! Just doing some color comps. I was told to use more vibrant colors in my piece so I’m going all out.
-
I like the strong colors
-
@MichaelaH Thanks ! Any comments?
-
Wow girl! You are a power house! Keep it coming! I love watching your work come to life
-
I am amazed and stupefied by how fast you are cranking these out!! All of them are lovely!! Very nicely done!! These are going to be great additions to your portfolio!!
-
@Squirrel-Size wow thanks! I’ll keep ‘em coming.
-
@Coreyartus thanks! I’m very glad you like them. I’m not really that fast. ️ I just have a lot of time on my hands right now especially that I don’t have school anymore. It has freed up a lot of time. Personally though, I don’t think I’m being as productive as I could be. I get easily distracted by youtube and games. All this free time is new to me LOL. I’m still getting the hang of illustrating full time. Hopefully, I can get my act together soon. Thanks again for the input.

Hi everyone! Here’s another update. I’ve started the coloring process.
-
Here’s an update. Almost done. Any input?

I added a few more details. In the story the Bird is supposed to be singing this hypnotic song, should I add notes and stuff? I want to but I think it will be over kill. Should I do it? What do you guys think?
-
It looks so good, I like how the other figurs really look like stone statues...
-
@MichaelaH Thanks! In the story whoever hears the song of the Adarna falls into a deep slumber and if the bird’s droppings happen to fall on you, you turn into stone. The 2 figures are supposed to be the older brothers of the young prince. They initialy tried to capture the bird but the fell victim to its song.

@Nyrryl-Cadiz
Just a small thing that I'm noticing: The contrast between the birds eye and the rest of its body is high, and it's the first place my eye goes to. If you choose to lower the contrast on the eye I think it would allow the colors in the wings/shape of the bird to be noticed first. -
@Alicja-W hi, Alicja! Thanks for the input. I’m fine with the eye though. I’ll stick with it for now. Thanks again! I really appreciate it.

Wow! I've just gone through this entire thread and really like all the drawings and compositions you've got going. I really like how much work you're doing, all of it high quality. On the last series, there was something I liked better about the first color drawing than the second, and it improved in the third when you added the texture in the background. It's something about the bird's tail, perhaps the white outlines or how local and strong the colors look compared to the draft.
Maybe to suggest the song you could open his beak? If you need a musical symbol, I might put in a few swirly lines, but not typical music notes, especially not dark ones.
Anyway, I'm just trying to leave a quick comment because I realize that usually I don't feel confident with my comments and therefore don't leave them--and that helps no one!--so take it with a grain of salt.

I’m working on a new piece. Here’s the sketch.

@Nyrryl-Cadiz This looks nice, magical. Maybe the left pig feet should be more to our right.
What will be in the box? -
Here are my color comps everyone. I wanted this piece to be different so I set it at night time with glowing plants around the woman.
@MichaelaH hi! That basket is going to contain golden gingers. This piece is of the filipino folklore of Maria Makiling who is a Diwata or Nymph or Goddess who guards Mount Makiling. Stories has it that one day a hunter was chasing a wild boar when he was stopped by Maria Makiling. In return for not killing the boar, she rewards the hunter with a basketful of ginger. When the hunter arrives home, he discovers that the gingers have turned to gold. Of course, I’m taking some artistic liberties on my piece. In my illustration the gingers are already gold since it looks more magical this way and I made the hunter into a young boy since this is still a children’s illustration. ️ I hope you’ll like it.
