@Jeremiahbrown lol not at all! I like how he’s scraping it off his shoe lol

Hi I'm new to the forum, but I'm feeling everyone's pain. This prompt is a tricky one! Looking forward to seeing people's interpretations.
-
@MarcRobinson welcome to the forum! Looking forward to seeing some of your work
-
@Asyas_illos thanks!
-
@Asyas_illos Hahaha I loved seeing this, because me too
-
@Jeremiahbrown ahaha I love it! I don't think it's too dark, I think its just the right about of shock/humor especially with those expressions
-
-
@Jeremiahbrown It's not too dark! It's awesome! I feel like it's the sort of thing that middle schoolers might really appreciate.
-
@Asyas_illos Me too! So far I have zero ideas that aren't super complicated and impossible to squash into a single illustration! Luckily, the month is young...
-
@Jeremiahbrown Awesome and with colour very clear. I wish there will come a day I can pull off something like that so fast. I'm in awe.

I'm new to the forum as well, and this will be the first Critique Arena prompt that I'll be doing, that is not a one word! I don't have any ideas yet, but I'm excited about this one
One thing that stood out to me is the name, Kamari... Immediately the information-nerd in me started thinking - is it a made up name, I've never heard it... (I'm from Europe) Does it come from a specific ethnicity? My guts told me it sounds Middle-Eastern or African. So I googled it and indeed it seems like it's an Arabic girl name that means "moon", adopted also in East Africa. It can be given to a boy, too. Anyone can cofirm?Just throwing it out there, ofc I believe it doesn't have to affect anyone's idea, but it might be a clue to start off from for somebody. Definitely it is for me

@Kristen-Lango I think your second concept is more in line with kid lit. The first concept seems a little more adult. And I love the idea of a world made out of candy! You could have a lot of fun designing that!
-
I was thinking of a pretty simple concept… my husbands idea. Our daughter didn’t make the volleyball team this year because she had a summer job and wasn’t able to consistently attend the crazy amount of pre-season stuff. The coach basically told her don’t even bother coming to try outs. (This is the part where I ‘don’t rant about the ridiculous level of expectation coaches put on kids.) Anyway, she was super sad and felt left out, but her sisters friends on the cheer team were totally excited because they wanted her to be in cheer. And that has been such a perfect fit for her, as well as a chance to step out of her normal group of friends. Anyway, here’s my thumbnails…
-
@kirsten-mcg thanks so much! Yes I agree with you that the second idea is more kid lit oriented, I'll post more pictures as I explore that.
-
@Pamela-Fraley I absolutely love that you have real life inspiration for this prompt! Thanks so much for sharing.
I cannot wait to see how you incorporate this into one illustration!
-
@mzameckaart it's a place on Santorini, Greece. But no idea where the influence came from. I think you can make it whatever you want.
-
@Chantal-Goetheer Oh, I didn't know that
And of course - everyone can do what they want with the prompt.
It just seemed to me like in this case it's supposed to be the name of a character. That can be a clue to start off from, but doesn't have to be - 9 days later

Th end of the road part isn't so hard...it's presenting the idea of the second part that is the challenge...argh!
